Cross-section values or upper limits are presented for twenty-five two-body hypercharge-exchange reactions in K − p and π + p interactions at 10 and 16 GeV/ c . The 16 GeV/ c results are compared with some predictions of line-reversal plus exchange-degenerate Regge poles, of SU(3) and of the additive quark model. Agreement is found in all cases.

Measurement of the exotic exchange reaction π − p → K + Σ − has been performed at 5 and 8 GeV, in the −0.015 to −0.13 and −0.009 to −0.15 (GeV/ c ) 2 range of t repectively. We give the value near t = 0 of the differential cross section at 5 GeV, 21 −21 +76 nb/(GeV/ c ) 2 , and an upper limit (< 37 nb/GeV/ c ) 2 ) at 8 GeV. As a check the measured differential cross section is given at both energies for the reaction π + p → K + Σ + in the same range of t ★★ ★★ Results presented here were included in the thesis of Doctorat d′Etat by M.N. The polarisation of the recoil sigma in the reaction π + p → K + Σ + has been measured at 12 production angles at a beam momentum of 1.11 GeV /c using counters and spark chambers. The new data are compared with existing phase shift solutions of π p → K Σ channels in the low energy region.
THE ASYMMETRY PARAMETER, ALPHA, FOR SIGMA+ --> P PI0 IS CLOSE TO -1. THE LAST DATA VALUE IS DEDUCED FROM ALL THE EXPERIMENTAL EVENTS.
The polarization parameters for the π + +p→K + +∑ + reaction have been measured at 13 laboratory momenta between 1490 and 2069 MeV/ c in the angular range of −0.1⩽ cos θ K ∗ ⩽0.7 with higher statistics than previous experiments. In general, the present results agree well with the results at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. It is found, however, that there exist small but systematic differences which can be attributed to certain coefficients in Legendre expansions. The physical significance of these differences is discussed.
ALPHA0 is the decay asymmetry parameter (=0.980 +- 0.015 PDG tables).

Cross sections or upper limits are reported for 12 meson-baryon and two baryon-baryon reactions for an incident momentum of 9.9 GeV/c, near 90° c.m.: π±p→pπ±,pp±,π+°±,K+Σ±, (Λ0/Σ0)K0; K±p→pK±; p±p→pp. By studying the flavor dependence of the different reactions, we have been able to isolate the quark-interchange mechanism as dominant over gluon exchange and quark-antiquark annihilation.
