Measurements of the vector analyzing power iT11 in πd elastic scattering at 49 MeV have been performed using a dynamically polarized target and a magnetic spectrometer. Data at seven π+ laboratory scattering angles between 50° and 130° were taken together with a complementary measurement at 60° for π−d elastic scattering. In general, we find agreement with models that include the πN P11 amplitude and disagreement with models that exclude or suppress it.

Phys.Rev.C 48 (1993) 1884-1889, 1993.
Inspire Record 365225 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26004

Absolute π±d differential cross sections and charge asymmetries have been measured at incident pion energies of 30 and 50 MeV, using an active target of scintillator plastic to detect recoil deuterons in coincidence with scattered pions. In addition, a small set of data at 65 MeV was collected for comparision with the results of an earlier experiment performed by this group. Measurements at 50 MeV from the earlier experiment are compared with the results of the present experiment.

Absolute differential cross-sections and charge asymmetries for pi+- d elastic scattering at 65-MeV

Kohler, M.D. ; Brack, J.T. ; Clausen, B. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.C 44 (1991) 15-23, 1991.
Inspire Record 323111 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26104

Absolute π±d differential cross sections and charge asymmetries have been measured at an incident pion energy of 65 MeV, using an active target of deuterated scintillator plastic to detect recoil deuterons in coincidence with scattered pions. Statistical and systematic uncertainties in the cross sections are each typically ±3%. The charge asymmetry is consistent with theoretical predictions.

Superratio and the simple ratios of pi+ and pi- elastic scattering on H-3 and He-3 at 180-MeV to investigate charge symmetry

Phys.Rev.C 41 (1990) 2770-2782, 1990.
Inspire Record 306209 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26180

Results are presented for the charge-symmetry superratio R, simple ratios r1 and r2, and the differential cross sections of π+ and π− elastic scattering on H3 and He3: R=r1r2, r1=σ(θ)[π+ π+3 ]3/σ(θ)[π− π−3 ]3, and r2=σ(θ)[π− π−3 ]3/σ(θ)[π+ He3 →π+ ]3. The measurements were made at Tπ=180 MeV and θπ(lab)=40°–90°; some data were obtained at Tπ=143 MeV also. At all angles, R>1 and r2>1 indicative of a violation of charge symmetry; however, we also find that r1≃1. Our data are consistent with Fp(3H)≃Fn(3He) and Fn(3H)>Fp(3He), where Fp and Fn are the proton and neutron matter form factors. σ(θ)[π± π±3 ]3 decreases with increasing magnitude of the four-momentum transfer t up to θc.m.≃70°; the t dependence of the F ’s is comparable to that of the electromagnetic form factors. σ(θ)[π− π−33H] has a non-spin-flip dip at θc.m.≃78°.

Measurement of the pi d Elastic Differential Scattering Cross Cross-Section for Momenta from 343-MeV/c to 637-MeV/c

Phys.Rev.C 17 (1978) 681-693, 1978.
Inspire Record 134673 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26365

The differential cross section for scattering of pions on deuterons was measured at LAMPF at laboratory momenta of 343, 441, 539, and 637 MeVc, using an E−ΔE method to identify the recoil deuterons. Angles ranged from 40° to 160° in the center of mass system. The momentum resolution was σ=±3.5% and the angular resolution was ± 1.70° in the laboratory system. The experimental method is discussed, and results are presented and compared with other experimental data as well as with various theoretical calculations. [NUCLEAR REACTIONS H2(π,π); E=230,323,417,512 MeV. D2O, CD2 targets. Measured σ(θ), θ=40∘−160∘, Δθ=1.7∘, Δpp=3.5%.]

Energy Dependence of the Charge Asymmetry a ($T (\pi$), $\theta$) in $\pi d$ Elastic Scattering

Angular distributions of charge asymmetry A(Tπ,θ), have been measured for πd elastic scattering. Data were obtained in the backward hemisphere for pion bombarding energies of 143, 180, 220, and 256 MeV. The results are compared with predictions employing different mass and width parameters for the delta isobars.

Backward pi- d Elastic Scattering from 496-MeV?c to 1050-MeV/c

Keller, R. ; Crabb, D.G. ; O'Fallon, J.R. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 11 (1975) 2389-2399, 1975.
Inspire Record 103079 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26861

Measurements of the differential cross sections for π−d elastic scattering in the backward angular region are presented. These measurements were made at thirteen incident-pion momenta ranging from 496 to 1050 MeV/c, over the center-of-mass angular range 148° to 177°. The experiment was performed at the LBL Bevatron. Experimental apparatus consisted of a liquid deuterium target and a double-arm spectrometer which included scintillation-counter hodoscopes. Center-of-mass differential cross sections were found to be generally smooth over the angular range covered and can be fitted with low-order polynomials. The extrapolated differential cross sections at 180° scattering angle were found to decrease rapidly with increasing momentum, with a prominent peak near 700 MeV/c and a shoulder near 900 MeV/c. These data are discussed in terms of existing models employing "d*" structures, and are compared with other similar measurements.

CONFIRMATION OF DIP BUMP STRUCTURE IN BACKWARD PI- D ELASTIC SCATTERING: POSSIBLE EVIDENCE FOR DIBARYON RESONANCES

Akemoto, M. ; Baba, K. ; Endo, I. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 50 (1983) 400-403, 1983.
Inspire Record 190884 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20545

The backward differential cross section for π−−d elastic scattering has been measured at incident momenta between 420 and 1160 MeV/c. The data show two bumps at around 670 and 1100 MeV/c, two dips near 630 and 980 MeV/c, and a break at 550 MeV/c. The result of a phenonomenological fit is consistent with the existence of three dibaryon resonances in this energy region. A theoretical calculation of Kanai et al. agrees well with the data below 800 MeV/c, but the agreement becomes worse above 800 MeV/c.
