We report on the observation of 17Ξ o + p interactions in the Berkeley 72″ Hydrogen Bubble Chember, Cross-sections are calculated for both elastic and inelastic channels.

APPROXIMATELY CONSTANT MOMENTUM TRANSFER.
The total cross section of hadron photoproduction on C, Cu and Pb nuclei is measured for six energy values in the range 12–30 GeV. The obtained cross-section values for C and Cu nuclei have a weak energy dependence at high energies (above 20 GeV). The cross section for the Pb nucleus is somewhat higher in comparison with that expected, and energy dependence is not observed. The A -dependence of the effective number of hadrons agrees with VDM predictions.

A-EFFECTIVE/A = SIG(GAMMA A)/(Z*SIG(GAMMA P) + (A-Z)*SIG(GAMMA N)) WHERE SIG(GAMMA P) = (98.7 +- 3.6) + (65 +- 10)/SQRT(P) MUB, SIG(GAMMA N) = SIG(GAMMA P) - (18.3 +- 6.1)/SQRT(P) MUB AND A IS 12, 64 AND 207 FOR THESE NUCLEI.
The Λp, Λn, Λ p, and Λ n total cross-sections were measured in the Λ momentum interval 6–21 GeV/ c . Within the experimental uncertainties the cross-sections are momentum-independent in this interval and the momentum-averaged cross-sections are found to be: σ ( Λp ) = 34.6 ± 0.4 mb : σ ( Λn ) = 34.0 ± 0.8 mb ; σ ( Λp ) = 56 ± 11 mb ; σ ( Λn ) = 46 ± 20 mb . The first two results are in agreement with charge symmetry, and with simple quark model sum rules applied to previous results on pp, K - n, and π + p total cross-sections.
NO SIGNIFICANT MOMENTUM DEPENDENCE OVER THIS INTERVAL. 2.8 +- 0.3 MB SHADOWING CORRECTION APPLIED FOR NEUTRON CROSS SECTION.
6 MB SHADOWING CORRECTION APPLIED FOR NEUTRON CROSS SECTION.
Based on 150 000 photographs taken at the ZGS with the 30 inch deuterium-filled chamber we present an analysis of the elastic p d scattering reaction. Due to unrecoreded small deuteron recoils we were only able to measure the elastic cross section in the four-momentum region | t | > 0.03 (GeV/ c ) 2 . Extrapolation towards small | t | by two different methods gave us two compatible estimates of the total elastic cross section. The differential cross section was analyzed by means of the Glauber formalism both with and without the effects due to the D-wave part of the deuteron wave function. The differential cross sections of np at 5.4 GeV/ c and pn deduced from our data were compared and exhibit a crossover phenomenon.
CALCULATED USING TOTAL ELASTIC SIG(-T > 0.03 GEV**2) = 7.2 +- 0.4. THE SMALL ANGLE SCATTERING APPROXIMATION HOLDS: D(SIG)/DOMEGA(RF=LAB) = (P**2/PI)*D(SIG)/DT.
INTEGRATED CROSS SECTION USING EITHER EXPONENTIAL EXTRAPOLATION OR GLAUBER MODEL FIT FOR -T < 0.03 GEV**2.
From a 3.5 ev/μb exposure of the BNL 80 inch chamber filled with deuterium to a 7.0 GeV/ c p beam we obtained 664 events in the channel p n → p π − p . The channel cross section is (1270 ± 110 60 ) μb. The final state is dominated by Δ (1230) production. The experimental data is well described by a one-pion exchange model with off-mass shell corrections.

We have measured the differential cross-section for the reaction p p → π + Λ − at 5 GeV /c , the π + being in t he cm angular range 0.47 < cos θ p π + cm < 0.98 , corresponding to 0.12 < − t < 2.40 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The angular distribution has a forward peak with a differential cross-section d σ d ω = 4.1 ± 1.6 μ b / sr for 0.94 < cos θ p π + cm < 0.96 .

A systematic study of p p and p d resonance production cross sections in non-strange annihilation channels between 1.51 and 2.90 GeV/ c has been completed. The data have been analysed in relation to the three known structures at c.m. N N energies of 2190, 2350 and 2375 MeV. Several resonance intermediate states may have broad maxima near the isopin one 2350 MeV structure. However, more data below 1.6 GeV/ c are required to better describe the background in this region before firm conclusions may be drawn.

We measured dσdt for p↑+p↑→p+p from P⊥2=4.50 to 5.09 (GeV/c)2 at 11.75 GeV/c. We used a 59%-polarized proton beam and a 71%-polarized proton target with both spins oriented perpendicular to the scattering plane. In these large-P⊥2 hard-scattering events, spin effects are very large and the ratio (dσdt)↑↑:(dσdt)↑↓ grows rapidly with increasing P⊥2, reaching a value of 4 at 90° (c.m.). Thus, hard elastic scattering, which is presumably due to the direct scattering of the protons' constituents, may only occur when the two incident protons' spins are parallel.
THE ERRORS INCLUDE STATISTICAL AND SYSTEMATIC ERRORS ADDED IN QUADRATURE. THE PARALLEL/ANTIPARALLEL SPIN CROSS SECTION RATIO IS (1+CNN)/(1-CNN).
Complete angular distributions for the reactions p p → π − π + and other two meson states at 2.3 GeV/ c are presented. The extraordinary π − π + angular distribution is contrasted with the other final states and the predictions of simple models. A favourable comparison is made with the qualitative features of a dual model involving high mass meson states with a strong degeneracy with respect to I -spin.
