The production of $\Upsilon$ mesons in Pb-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5 TeV is measured with the muon spectrometer of the ALICE detector at the LHC. The yields as well as the nuclear modification factors are determined in the forward rapidity region $2.5<y<4.0$, as a function of rapidity, transverse momentum and collision centrality. The results show that the production of the $\Upsilon$(1S) meson is suppressed by a factor of about three with respect to the production in proton-proton collisions. For the first time, a significant signal for the $\Upsilon$(2S) meson is observed at forward rapidity, indicating a suppression stronger by about a factor 2-3 with respect to the ground state. The measurements are compared with transport, hydrodynamic, comover and statistical hadronisation model calculations.

Rapidity-differential yield of $\Upsilon(2\mathrm{S}) \rightarrow \mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ divided by the average nuclear overlap function $\langle T_{\mathrm{AA}} \rangle$ for the 0–90% centrality interval ($\langle T_{\mathrm{AA}} \rangle$ = 6.28 $\pm$ 0.06 mb$^{-1}$).

The production of B ∗ mesons in Z decays has been measured at LEP with the L3 detector. A sample of Z → b b events was obtained by tagging muons in 1.6 million hadronic Z decays collected in 1991, 1992 and 1993. A signal with a peak value of E γ = 46.3 ± 1.9 (stat) MeV in the B rest frame energy spectrum was interpreted to come from the decay B ∗ → γB. The inclusive production ratio of B ∗ mesons relative to B mesons was determined from a fit to the spectrum to be N B ∗ (N B ∗ + N B ) = 0.76 ± 0.08 ± 0.06 , where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B^0 B^0-bar meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a_ll = [N(l+l+) - N(l-l-)]/[N(l+l+) + N[l-l-)] = +0.013 +/- 0.050 +/- 0.005 . We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon_B)/(1+|epsilon_B|^2) = +0.0035 +/- 0.0103 +/- 0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon_B.
CONST(NAME=EPSILON) is CP impurity parameter.
Using 13.6/fb of continuum two-jet e+e- -> ccbar events collected with the CLEO detector, we have searched for baryon number correlations at the primary quark level. We have measured the likelihood for a /\c+ charmed baryon to be produced in the hemisphere opposite a /\c- relative to the likelihood for a /\c+ charmed baryon to be produced opposite an anticharmed meson Dbar; in all cases, the reconstructed hadrons must have momentum greater than 2.3 GeV/c. We find that, given a /\c- (reconstructed in five different decay modes), a /\c+ is observed in the opposite hemisphere (0.72+/-0.11)% of the time (not corrected for efficiency). By contrast, given a Dbar in one hemisphere, a /\c+ is observed in the opposite hemisphere only (0.21+/-0.02)% of the time. Normalized to the total number of either /\c- or Dbar ``tags'', it is therefore 3.52+/-0.45+/-0.42 times more likely to find a /\c+ opposite a /\c- than a Dbar meson. This enhancement is not observed in the JETSET 7.3 e+e- -> ccbar Monte Carlo simulation.

Using data recorded with the CLEO II and CLEO II.V detector configurations at the Cornell Electron Storage Rings, we report the first observation and mass measurement of the $\Sigma_c^{*+}$ charmed baryon, and an updated measurement of the mass of the $\Sigma_c^+$ baryon. We find $M(\Sigma_c^{*+})-M(\Lambda_c^+)$= 231.0 +- 1.1 +- 2.0 MeV, and $M(\Sigma_c^{+})-M(\Lambda_c^+)$= 166.4 +- 0.2 +- 0.3 MeV, where the errors are statistical and systematic respectively.

We have measured gluon splitting into bottom quarks, g→b b ̄ , in hadronic Z 0 decays collected by SLD between 1996 and 1998. The analysis was performed by looking for secondary bottom production in 4-jet events of any primary flavor. 4-jet events were identified, and in each event a topological vertex-mass technique was applied to the two jets closest in angle in order to identify them as b or b ̄ jets. The upgraded CCD-based vertex detector gives very high B -tagging efficiency, especially for B hadrons with the low energies typical of this process. We measured the rate of g→b b ̄ production per hadronic event, g b b ̄ , to be (2.44±0.59(stat.)±0.34(syst.))×10 −3 .

The ratios of the production cross sections between the excited $\Upsilon$(2S) and $\Upsilon$(3S) mesons and the $\Upsilon$(1S) ground state, detected via their decay into two muons, are studied as a function of the number of charged particles in the event. The data are from proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 7 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.8 fb$^{-1}$, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. Evidence of a decrease in these ratios as a function of the particle multiplicity is observed, more pronounced at low transverse momentum $p_\mathrm{T}^{\mu\mu}$. For $\Upsilon$(nS) mesons with $p_\mathrm{T}^{\mu\mu}$ $\gt$ 7 GeV, where most of the data were collected, the correlation with multiplicity is studied as a function of the underlying event transverse sphericity and the number of particles in a cone around the $\Upsilon$(nS) direction. The ratios are found to be multiplicity independent for jet-like events. The mean $p_\mathrm{T}^{\mu\mu}$ values for the $\Upsilon$(nS) states as a function of particle multiplicity are also measured and found to grow more steeply as their mass increases.
The measured ratios $\Upsilon(2$S$)\,/\,\Upsilon(1$S$)$ and $\Upsilon(3$S$)\,/\,\Upsilon(1$S$)$ with $p_T(\Upsilon(n$S$))>7\,GeV$ and $|y(\Upsilon(n$S$))| < 1.2$, as a function of track multiplicity $N_{track}$
The measured ratios $\Upsilon(2$S$)\,/\,\Upsilon(1$S$)$ and $\Upsilon(3$S$)\,/\,\Upsilon(1$S$)$ with $p_T(\Upsilon(n$S$))>0\,GeV$ and $|y(\Upsilon(n$S$))| < 1.93$, as a function of track multiplicity $N_{track}$.
Mean $p_T$ values of the $\Upsilon(1$S$)$, $\Upsilon(2$S$)$, and $\Upsilon(3S)$ states with $p_T\,>\,7\,GeV$ and $|y|\,<\,1.2$ as a function of track multiplicity $N_{track}$
A study of the particle multiplicity between jets with large rapidity separation has been performed using the D\O\ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collider operating at $\sqrt{s}=1.8$\,TeV. A significant excess of low-multiplicity events is observed above the expectation for color-exchange processes. The measured fractional excess is $1.07 \pm 0.10({\rm stat})~{ + 0.25}_{- 0.13}({\rm syst})\%$, which is consistent with a strongly-interacting color-singlet (colorless) exchange process and cannot be explained by electroweak exchange alone. A lower limit of $0.80\%$ (95\% C.L.) is obtained on the fraction of dijet events with color-singlet exchange, independent of the rapidity gap survival probability.
'Opposite-side' jets with a large pseudorapidity separation. A cone algorithm with radius R = sqrt(d(etarap)**2+d(phi)**2)=0.7 is used for jet funding. Double negative binomial distribution (NBD) is used to parametrize the color-exchange component of the opposite-side multiplicity distribution betweeb jets. A result of extrapolation to the zero multiplicity point. Quoted systematic error is a result of combining in quadrature of the systematic errors described above.
The yields of the K*(892)$^{0}$ and $\Phi$(1020) resonances are measured in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV through their hadronic decays using the ALICE detector. The measurements are performed in multiple centrality intervals at mid-rapidity (|$y$|<0.5) in the transverse-momentum ranges 0.3 < $p_{\rm T}$ < 5 GeV/$c$ for the K*(892)$^{0}$ and 0.5 < $p_{\rm T}$ < 5 GeV/$c$ for the $\Phi$(1020). The yields of K*(892)$^{0}$ are suppressed in central Pb-Pb collisions with respect to pp and peripheral Pb-Pb collisions (perhaps due to rescattering of its decay products in the hadronic medium), while the longer lived $\Phi$(1020) meson is not suppressed. These particles are also used as probes to study the mechanisms of particle production. The shape of the $p_{\rm T}$ distribution of the $\Phi$(1020) meson, but not its yield, is reproduced fairly well by hydrodynamic models for central Pb-Pb collisions. In central Pb-Pb collisions at low and intermediate $p_{\rm T}$, the p/$\Phi$(1020) ratio is flat in $p_{\rm T}$, while the p/$\pi$ and $\Phi$(1020)/$\pi$ ratios show a pronounced increase and have similar shapes to each other. These results indicate that the shapes of the $p_{\rm T}$ distributions of these particles in central Pb-Pb collisions are determined predominantly by the particle masses and radial flow. Finally, $\Phi$(1020) production in Pb-Pb collisions is enhanced, with respect to the yield in pp collisions and the yield of charged pions, by an amount similar to the $\Lambda$ and $\Xi$.
