Inclusive photoproduction of ϕ,K*0(890),\(\bar K*^0 \) andK*0(1420),\(\bar K*^0 \) has been studied in γp collisions with photons of energy 20 to 70 GeV and in the range 0.1≦xF≦0.95 [0.4≦xF≦0.8 for the\(\mathop K\limits^{( - )} *\)(1420)],xF being the Feynman variable of the vector/tensor meson. The cross-sections for these processes, averaged over the photon energy range and integrated overxF are given. The inclusive ϕ production in the forward direction can be described quantitatively by a triple-Regge model calculation. The remaining ϕ production and the totalK*0(890) and\(\bar K*^0 \) production are consistent with a quark fusion picture.

Measurements of the production inp-BeO collisions of charged baryons and antibaryons with strangeness between −3 and +3 at\(\sqrt s= 21.2GeV\)x=0.48, andpT=600MeV/c are reported. The experimental results can be interpreted within the framework of a simple proton fragmentation-recombination model.

We present data on two-particle pseudorapidity and multiplicity correlations of charged particles for non single-diffractive\(p\bar p - collisions\) at c.m. energies of 200, 546 and 900 GeV. Pseudorapidity correlations interpreted in terms of a cluster model, which has been motivated by this and other experiments, require on average about two charged particles per cluster. The decay width of the clusters in pseudorapidity is approximately independent of multiplicity and of c.m. energy. The investigations of correlations in terms of pseudorapidity gaps confirm the picture of cluster production. The strength of forward-backward multiplicity correlations increases linearly with ins and depends strongly on position and size of the pseudorapidity gap separating the forward and backward interval. All our correlation studies can be understood in terms of a cluster model in which clusters contain on average about two charged particles, i.e. are of similar magnitude to earlier estimates from the ISR.
Correlation strength for different choices of pseudorapidity intervals.
Correlation strength as a function of the central gap size for the symmetric data.
Correlation strength as a function of the centre of the separating gap for a gap size of 2.
Thez andpT2 distributions of π0 mesons produced by the interaction of 200 GeV muons on hydrogen are presented. Comparisons are made with other π0 and charged hadron data and with the predictions of perturbative QCD. The data show a rise of 〈pT2〉 withW2 which is consistent with QCD, and withz2 which requires a contribution from a primordialkT. The fraction of total energy which appears as π0 mesons is 0.27±0.05.

An improved measurement of the average b hadron lifetime is performed using a sample of 1.5 million hadronic Z decays, collected during the 1991–1993 runs of ALEPH, with the silicon vertex detector fully operational. This uses the three-dimensional impact parameter distribution of lepton tracks coming from semileptonic b decays and yields an average b hadron lifetime of 1.533 ± 0.013 ± 0.022 ps.

We report on a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in $p \bar{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=$1.96 TeV using data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.70 fb$^{-1}$. The data cover jet transverse momenta from 50 GeV to 600 GeV and jet rapidities in the range -2.4 to 2.4. Detailed studies of correlations between systematic uncertainties in transverse momentum and rapidity are presented, and the cross section measurements are found to be in good agreement with next-to-leading order QCD calculations.
Measured inclusive jet cross section as a function of jet transverse momentum for absolute values of the jet rapidity from 0.0 to 0.4 for cone radius R = 0.7.
Measured inclusive jet cross section as a function of jet transverse momentum for absolute values of the jet rapidity from 0.4 to 0.8 for cone radius R = 0.7.
Measured inclusive jet cross section as a function of jet transverse momentum for absolute values of the jet rapidity from 0.8 to 1.2 for cone radius R = 0.7.
Results are presented of measurements of the polarisation parameter for the reaction π−p→π°n : π°→γγ at 22 incident momenta in the resonance region. These results are generally in agreement with those of previous measurements and in qualitative agreement with predictions of phase shift analyses.
