We report on the measurement of the Central Exclusive Production of charged particle pairs $h^{+}h^{-}$ ($h = \pi, K, p$) with the STAR detector at RHIC in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 200$ GeV. The charged particle pairs produced in the reaction $pp\to p^\prime+h^{+}h^{-}+p^\prime$ are reconstructed from the tracks in the central detector, while the forward-scattered protons are measured in the Roman Pot system. Differential cross sections are measured in the fiducial region, which roughly corresponds to the square of the four-momentum transfers at the proton vertices in the range $0.04~\mbox{GeV}^2 < -t_1 , -t_2 < 0.2~\mbox{GeV}^2$, invariant masses of the charged particle pairs up to a few GeV and pseudorapidities of the centrally-produced hadrons in the range $|\eta|<0.7$. The measured cross sections are compared to phenomenological predictions based on the Double Pomeron Exchange (DPE) model. Structures observed in the mass spectra of $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ and $K^{+}K^{-}$ pairs are consistent with the DPE model, while angular distributions of pions suggest a dominant spin-0 contribution to $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ production. The fiducial $\pi^+\pi^-$ cross section is extrapolated to the Lorentz-invariant region, which allows decomposition of the invariant mass spectrum into continuum and resonant contributions. The extrapolated cross section is well described by the continuum production and at least three resonances, the $f_0(980)$, $f_2(1270)$ and $f_0(1500)$, with a possible small contribution from the $f_0(1370)$. Fits to the extrapolated differential cross section as a function of $t_1$ and $t_2$ enable extraction of the exponential slope parameters in several bins of the invariant mass of $\pi^+\pi^-$ pairs. These parameters are sensitive to the size of the interaction region.
Differential fiducial cross section for CEP of $\pi^+\pi^-$ pairs as a function of the invariant mass of the pair. Systematic uncertainties assigned to data points are strongly correlated between bins and should be treated as allowed collective variation of all data points. There are two components of the total systematic uncertainty. The systematic uncertainty related to the experimental tools and analysis method is labeled "syst. (experimental)". The systematic uncertainty related to the integrated luminosity (fully correlated between all data points) is labeled "syst. (luminosity)". Baryon resonance production in quasi-two-body reactions has been studied for the channels K + p→K°p π + , K + n π + and K + p π ° at beam momenta of 2.53, 2.76 and 3.20 GeV/ c . The production cross sections, four-momentum transfer distributions and density matrix elements are given for the Δ(1236), N ∗ (1400), N ∗ (1500) and N ∗ (1680) states. The reaction K + p→K° Δ ++ (1236) is compared to the line reversed reaction K − n → K °Δ − and the charge-exchange SU(3) sum rule for pseudo-scalar meson plus Δ(1236) is tested.

Experimental results are presented for the available channels in the 1.2 GeV/ c π + p interaction. An isobaric model with incoherent addition of the amplitudes is used to determine the π, Δ and N ∗ abundance rates in the π + π o p final state. The multipole parameters in the density matrix of the Δ ++ are determined as functions of its production angle.

Lambda-hyperon and K°-meson production effective cross sections in Interactions of relativistlc carbon nuclei, measured using a 2-meter propane bubble chamber, appear to be <^c « (24+6) mb; <7°°0- (30 ±10) mb. They are In fair agreement with the predictions of the flrestreak model making use of the hypothesis on chemical equilibrium and associative production of strange particles. It means that strange particle production In CC-lnteractlons at 4.2 GeV/c momentum per nucleon Is well described without Invoking hypothesis about the quark-gluon phase transition.

The coherent elastic reaction K + d → K + d and the break-up reaction K + d → K + pn are studied in a K + d experiment at 4.6 GeV/ c which the CERN 2 m bubble chamber. Partial and differential cross sections are given and the slopes of the differential cross sections are determined. The results for the reaction K + d → K + p(n s ), where n s denotes the spectator neutron, are compared with those of the reaction K + p → K + p on free protons. Combining our data with existing data on the reactions K + d → K 0 pp and K + p → K + p, parameters of the elastic K + -nucleon scattering at 4.6 GeV/ c are determined in the framework of the Glauber model. The D-wave of the deuteron and spin-flip effects are taken into account.

Approximately 100 000 four-prong antiproton annihilations in hydrogen were measured. A clean, unbiased sample of 842 K + K − π + π − events was obtained. This reaction is dominated by K ∗ (∼45%) and ϱ 0 (∼20%) production, with smaller amounts of A 2 0 (∼15%) and ϕ (∼5%) production. 25% of the reactions involved double resonance production. No significant three-body resonance production is observed.
ERRORS INCLUDE SYSTEMATICS.
The cross section for the reaction pp → Σ + K + n at 5 GeV/ c is measured to be 48.1 ± 3.5 μ b. The KΣ mass spectrum shows an enhancement at 1.86 GeV, which may due to the Δ (1920) resonance. Adequacy of the one-pion exchange model for the reaction is discussed. The cross section for the reaction pp → Σ + K o p is found to be 24.9 ± 2.3 μ b.
