Cross sections for elastic scattering of 1 GeV protons from40Ca nuclei have been calculated using the flucton model. The influence of the collective flucton nuclaon correlations on the calculated cross sections is examined. The calculated cross sections are in significant disagreement with the experimental data. This may be considered as an argument against the flucton model.

K$~+$--nucleus quasielastic cross sections measured for a laboratory kaon beam momentum of 705 MeV/$c$ are presented for 3--momentum transfers of 300 and 500 MeV/$c$. The measured differential cross sections for C, Ca and Pb at 500 MeV/$c$ are used to deduce the effective number of nucleons participating in the scattering, which are compared with estimates based on the eikonal approximation. The long mean free path expected for K$~+$ mesons in nuclei is found. Double differential cross sections for C and Ca are compared to relativistic nuclear structure calculations.

A measurement of the differential cross section for the reaction np→ π 0 d has been made at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory 184-inch cyclotron. A neutron beam with kinetic energies up to 720 MeV was incident on a liquid hydrogen target. The angle and momentum of the deuterons were measured using an analyzing magnet and wire spark chambers with a magnetostrictive readout. Deuterons were separated from protons by time-of-flight. The photons from the decaying π 0 were not detected. The neutron energy was calculated from the measured deuteron angle and momentum.
