We present differential cross-sections for the electro-production of single charged pions from deuterium for a virtual photon mass squared −1.0 GeV2 and for pion nucleon masses in the range 1.23–1.68 GeV (the 1st and 2nd resonance regions). The data are compared with predictions from fits to hydrogen data.

The differential cross section of the reaction γ + p → p + πo has been measured at the Deutsches Elektronen- Synchrotron, Hamburg, at mean phonon energies of 1.36, 2.0 and 3.0 GeV and pion center of mass angles between 0o and 70o. The results are compared with some theoretical calculations based on elementary and reggeized 1- meson exchange.

X ERROR D(EKIN) = 0.0600 MEV.
Results are presented from an experiment in which high-energy deuterons, produced by proton-proton interactions at 21.1 GeV/ c incident momentum, were detected over a range of angles from 12.5 mrad to 60 mrad in the laboratory system. From the momentum spectra of the deuterons, the final states D + π + and D + ϱ + have been identified. The angular distribution for these reactions are presented and compared with previous data at lower energies.

The differential cross sections for the n+d elastic scattering and for the 2H(n,np)n break-up reaction in the np quasi-free scattering configuration was measured at 67 MeV. The experimental data are compared with results of the calculations based on a rigorous solution of the three-nucleon Faddeev equations using meson-exchange potentials. Good agreement is found between experiment and theory for the n+d elastic-scattering cross section while in the case of np quasi-free scattering the theoretical predictions overestimate the data at neutron angles larger than 40° by about 30%.

The double-differential cross sections for high-energy γ-rays were measured for collisions of 36Ar on C, Al, Cu, Ag, Tb, and Au at 85 MeV/nucleon. The system 36Ar+ 27Al has been studied in more detail in an exclusive experiment where the charged-particle multiplicity was measured in coincidence with high-energy γ-rays. A clear correlation between the hardness of the γ-spectra and the overlap distance of the two ions is observed. This correlation is interpreted as due to the spatial dependence of the Fermi momentum of the nucleons.
