We have studied the absorption cross section of antiprotons on Al, Cu, and Pb for T=131.6 and 193.6 MeV. These results are compared with predictions of an optical model fitted to antiproton elastic scattering data on these nuclei and are in agreement with these predictions. The cross sections have an exponential dependence on the mass number A with an exponent of approximately 0.61.

We have studied the reactions\(\bar pn \to \pi ^ -\pi ^ -\pi ^ +(\pi ^0 )\) at incident momenta between 0.42 and 1.65 GeV/c using two exposures in deuterium-filled bubble chambers. The ratio of the rates for 3π to 4π final states shows a sharp increase at a momentum of about 0.8 GeV/c. A full partial-wave analysis of the 3π final state has been made and complex structure is observed at approximately the same momentum, associated in particular with theJP=3+ final state.

An energy-independent phase-shift analysis ofπ+p-scattering has been carried out at 16 energies in the region 194–600 MeV. The new data on elastic polarization, obtained in LNPI up to 1983, were included.

Momentum spectra of protons from the (γ, p) reaction have been measured at θp=30° for H1, H2, He4, Be9, C12, and O16 with a tagged photon beam with energies from 187 to 427 MeV. By analysis of these inclusive proton spectra, cross sections for the pion photoproduction from the quasifree nucleon in the target nucleus and those for the photodisintegration of the quasifree two-nucleon system have been obtained as a function of the photon energy and of the target mass number.

Interactions of 40 GeV/c πp-,K− and\(\bar p\) on Li, C, S, Cu, CsI and Pb were studied with the RISK-streamer chamber spectrometer. We present multiplicities of negatively charged particles, as well as of protons, and the correlations between them. The normalized mean multiplicity of negative particles,R−, depends on\(\bar v\), the average number of inelastic collisions as\(R^ -= (0.73 \pm 0.04) + (0.34 \pm 0.02)\bar v\). The dependence of the normalized dispersion of negative particles,D−/<N−>, on the number of protons favours independent collision models and contradicts the coherent tube picture. The excess of fast positive particles behaves asA0.4 and shows, for the heavier nuclei, a clear correlation with identified protons.
