We report the first multi-differential measurements of strange hadrons of $K^{-}$, $\phi$ and $\Xi^{-}$ yields as well as the ratios of $\phi/K^-$ and $\phi/\Xi^-$ in Au+Au collisions at ${\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = \rm{3\,GeV}}$ with the STAR experiment fixed target configuration at RHIC. The $\phi$ mesons and $\Xi^{-}$ hyperons are measured through hadronic decay channels, $\phi\rightarrow K^+K^-$ and $\Xi^-\rightarrow \Lambda\pi^-$. Collision centrality and rapidity dependence of the transverse momentum spectra for these strange hadrons are presented. The $4\pi$ yields and ratios are compared to thermal model and hadronic transport model predictions. At this collision energy, thermal model with grand canonical ensemble (GCE) under-predicts the $\phi/K^-$ and $\phi/\Xi^-$ ratios while the result of canonical ensemble (CE) calculations reproduce $\phi/K^-$, with the correlation length $r_c \sim 2.7$ fm, and $\phi/\Xi^-$, $r_c \sim 4.2$ fm, for the 0-10% central collisions. Hadronic transport models including high mass resonance decays could also describe the ratios. While thermal calculations with GCE work well for strangeness production in high energy collisions, the change to CE at $\rm{3\,GeV}$ implies a rather different medium property at high baryon density.

Flow coefficients $v_{n}$ of the orders $n = 1 - 6$ are measured with the High-Acceptance DiElectron Spectrometer (HADES) at GSI for protons, deuterons and tritons as a function of centrality, transverse momentum and rapidity in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.4$ GeV. Combining the information from the flow coefficients of all orders allows to construct for the first time, at collision energies of a few GeV, a multi-differential picture of the angular emission pattern of these particles. It reflects the complicated interplay between the effect of the central fireball pressure on the emission of particles and their subsequent interaction with spectator matter. The high precision information on higher order flow coefficients is a major step forward in constraining the equation-of-state of dense baryonic matter.

We present a measurement of the azimuthal asymmetries of two charged pions in the inclusive process $e^+e^-\rightarrow \pi\pi X$ based on a data set of 62 $\rm{pb}^{-1}$ at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=3.65$ GeV collected with the BESIII detector. These asymmetries can be attributed to the Collins fragmentation function. We observe a nonzero asymmetry, which increases with increasing pion momentum. As our energy scale is close to that of the existing semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering experimental data, the measured asymmetries are important inputs for the global analysis of extracting the quark transversity distribution inside the nucleon and are valuable to explore the energy evolution of the spin-dependent fragmentation function.

The emission of protons from targets of Li6, Li, C12, Al27, Ca40, V51, Zr90, and Pb under bombardment from 800 MeV protons has been studied using a high resolution proton spectrometer. Spectra were measured at laboratory scattering angles of 5°, 7°, 9°, 11°, 13°, 15°, 20°, 25°, and 30° with special emphasis on the quasifree region. Outgoing momenta corresponding to the region of pion production were examined at 11° and 15°. Absolute cross sections have been derived by reference to known (p,p) scattering data at 800 MeV. The quasifree scattering has been compared to a distorted-wave impulse approximation analysis by summing over the unobserved (struck) nucleon. The systematics of proton production and the applicability of the distorted-wave impulse approximation analyses are discussed. Data on multiplicities of charged particles produced in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at 200 GeV per nucleon are presented. The apparent consistency of pion multiplicity data with the assumption of an incoherent superposition of nucleon-nucleon collisions is critically discussed.

Photoproduction is studied at 2.8 and 4.7 GeV using a linearly polarized monoenergetic photon beam in a hydrogen bubble chamber. We discuss the experimental procedure, the determination of channel cross sections, and the analysis of the channel γp→pπ+π−. A model-independent analysis of the ρ0-decay angular distribution allows us to measure nine independent density-matrix elements. From these we find that the reaction γp→pρ0 proceeds almost completely through natural parity exchange for squared momentum transfers |t|<1 GeV2 and that the ρ production mechanism is consistent with s-channel c.m. helicity conservation for |t|<0.4 GeV2. A cross section for the production of π+π− pairs in the s-channel c.m. helicity-conserving p-wave state is determined. The ρ mass shape is studied as a function of momentum transfer and is found to be inconsistent with a t-independent Ross-Stodolsky factor. Using a t-dependent parametrization of the ρ0 mass shape we derive a phenomenological ρ0 cross section. We compare our phenomenological ρ0 cross section with other experiments and find good agreement for 0.05<|t|<1 GeV2. We discuss the discrepancies in the various determinations of the forward differential cross section. We study models for ρ0 photoproduction and find that the Söding model best describes the data. Using the Söding model we determine a ρ0 cross section. We determine cross sections and nine density-matrix elements for γp→Δ++π−. The parity asymmetry for Δ++ production is incompatible with simple one-pion exchange. We compare Δ++ production with models.

Inclusive Λ production has been studied in K − p interactions at 8.25 GeV/ c using about 69 000 events; the total cross section is found to be 3.35 ± 0.20 mb. A comparison has been made with Σ 0 and Σ(1385) inclusive production. Their influence on the inclusive Λ production is discussed. The inclusive Λ cross section and polarization is interpreted in terms of the triple-Regge model. In the target fragmentation region an effective Regge trajectory is determined which lies closer to the K than to the K ∗ . In the beam fragmentation region the cross-section data indicate an effective Regge trajectory which corresponds to the nucleon, while the polarization data require additional Regge exchanges to be present.

The observed cross sections are: σ ( Λ )=0.94±0.06 mb, σ (K S 0 )=0.98±0.06 mb, σ ( Σ + (1385))=60±7 μb , σ ( Σ − (1385))=90±9 μ b, σ( K ∗+ (892))=216±28 μ b and σ( K ∗− (892))=41±8 μ b , respectively. The inclusive spectra of these particles are presented as functions of squared transverse momentum and Feynman scaling variable x . The polarization of Λ has also been investigated. It is found from a comparison with higher-energy data that the inclusive cross sections for Σ ± (1385) and the production ratios Σ ± (1385)/ Λ in π − p at 6 GeV/ c have not reached the high-energy limiting values.

The ALICE Collaboration has measured inclusive J/psi production in pp collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt(s)=2.76 TeV at the LHC. The results presented in this Letter refer to the rapidity ranges |y|<0.9 and 2.5<y<4 and have been obtained by measuring the electron and muon pair decay channels, respectively. The integrated luminosities for the two channels are L^e_int=1.1 nb^-1 and L^mu_int=19.9 nb^-1, and the corresponding signal statistics are N_J/psi^e+e-=59 +/- 14 and N_J/psi^mu+mu-=1364 +/- 53. We present dsigma_J/psi/dy for the two rapidity regions under study and, for the forward-y range, d^2sigma_J/psi/dydp_t in the transverse momentum domain 0<p_t<8 GeV/c. The results are compared with previously published results at sqrt(s)=7 TeV and with theoretical calculations.

Transverse momentum ($p_{\rm{T}}$) spectra of pions, kaons, and protons up to $p_{\rm{T}} = 20$ GeV/$c$ have been measured in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 2.76$ TeV using the ALICE detector for six different centrality classes covering 0-80%. The proton-to-pion and the kaon-to-pion ratios both show a distinct peak at $p_{\rm{T}} \approx 3$ GeV/$c$ in central Pb-Pb collisions that decreases towards more peripheral collisions. For $p_{\rm{T}} > 10$ GeV/$c$, the nuclear modification factor is found to be the same for all three particle species in each centrality interval within systematic uncertainties of 10-20%. This suggests there is no direct interplay between the energy loss in the medium and the particle species composition in the hard core of the quenched jet. For $p_{\rm{T}} < 10$ GeV/$c$, the data provide important constraints for models aimed at describing the transition from soft to hard physics.

Production characteristics of these states are compared with other data and shown to be consistent with hyperon exchange. Polarization of Ξ− shows an increase in magnitude with both Feynman x and transverse momentum. The Ξ− decay parameters are measured to be αΞ=-0.40±0.03 and ΦΞ=(5±10)° . Results of searches for higher-mass hyperons are presented. The Ξ−(1820)→Ξ0(1530)π− decay is observed, while we fail to confirm the existence of the Σ+(3170).

We present a new determination of the nonsinglet structure function ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{p}}$ - ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{n}}$ at ${\mathit{Q}}^{2}$=4 ${\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$ using recently measured values of ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{d}}$ and ${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{n}}$/${\mathit{F}}_{2}^{\mathit{p}}$. A new evaluation of the Gottfried sum is given, which remains below the simple quark-parton model value of 1/3.

The total cross sections for interactions of K+ and 1r+ mesons with protons were measured. The following values were obtained: 21.3 ± 4.6 mb and 21 ± 4.3 mb for 4.75 ± 0.15 Bev/c and 3.7 ± 0.1 Bev/c K+ mesons, respectively; the corresponding values for 1r+ mesons of the same momenta were 33.3 ± 1.3mb and 30 ± 1.2mb. Data on the cross sections for inelastic collisions of K+ and 1r+ mesons with various nuclei have also been obtained.

This investigation was performed with a 24-liter propane bubble chamber [i] and is a continu- ation of our previous work on the production of strange particles by 7-8-BeV 1r- mesons on hydrogen and carbon. [ 2 - 5 ] The properties of 1r 0 mesons inferred from the y quanta accom- panying A and K 0 production are given, and are compared with the properties of 1r+ and 7r- mesons emitted in A and K 0 production processes. The possibility of a resonance with radi- ative decay is noted.

The angular and energy distributions of pions produced by 650-MeV protons and pion-nucleon correlations were studied using a liquid hydrogen bubble chamber. The present investigation indicates that the experimental angular distributions of neutral and charged pions are consis- tent with the assumption of isotopic spin conservation. Invariant single-particle cross sections for pion and proton production in π ± p interactions at 8 and 16 GeV/ c are presented in terms of integrated distributions as functions of x , reduced rapidity ζ and p ⊥ 2 , and also in terms of double differential cross sections E d 2 σ /(d x d p ⊥ 2 ) and d ζ d p ⊥ 2 ). The reaction e + p → e ′+ N ∗ was studied for four momentum transfers up to 2.34 (GeV/ c ) 2 in the region of the 1236 MeV isobar. The results of the experiment to search for charged tachyon production by Π- mesons with the 4.5 GeV/c momenta in a liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber are presented. Analysis of the events chosen is carried out by the method of missing masses. A definite excess of events-candidates, which is difficultly explained by all known backgrounds, is observed. Nevetherless, as interpretation of these events is indefinite, the results obtained are considered as establishment of the upper limits to charged tachyon production cross sections. These limits are on the ∼10-4 level from the total cross section of Π-p interactions, that is considerably lower than the upper limits established up to now to probabilities of tachyon production in hadron reactions

The total neutron cross-sections were measured with high precision for hydrogen and deuterium. At an average neutron momentum of 10 GeV/c we obtained σ T (np)=39.5±0.5 mb and σ T (nd)=73.3±1.1 mb. These values are in excellent agreement with p-p and p-d total cross sections. No energy dependence was found for n-p cross section between 4 and 10 GeV/c.

From a study of peripheral interactions wherein a negative pion of 12 or 18 GeV/c incident on a nucleon produced a pair of high-momentum pions, the pion-pion s-wave interaction was deduced. Normalizing to to the ϱo production cross sections, a pion-pion cross section falling smoothly from 50 mb (300 MeV) to 20 mb (600 MeV) is observed. The forward-backward asymmetry is negative for low dipion masses.

An analysis was made of 355 interactions between 1r- mesons and nucleons. The momentum and angular distributions of the secondary charged particles were measured. Information on 1r0 mesons produced in the interactions has been obtained. The experimental data are compared with the statistical theory. The results suggest that peripheral interactions may exist. In events of low multiplicity (two-prong cases) "one-meson" peripheral interactions play an important role, while in events of large multiplicity an important role is played by interactions not of the one-meson type, among which also central collisions are possible.
