The reactionsπ−p→K0∑0(1385) andπ−p→K+∑−(1385) are studied at an incident momentum of 3.95 GeV/c using data from a high statistics bubble chamber experiment corresponding to approximately 90 events/μb. The total and differential cross sections and the density matrix elements of the Σ(1385) are presented. The results are compared with those obtained for the related processesπpp→K+∑+(1385) and\(K^ -p \to \pi ^ \mp\sum ^ \pm(1385)\) in this energy range. Evidence is presented for the existence of production mechanisms with exotic exchanges in thet channel.

BACKWARD CROSS SECTION.
TOTAL CROSS SECTION USING SLICING TECHNIQUE. FORWARD (-TP < 1.2 GEV**2) CROSS SECTION IS 25 +- 2 MUB: DOUBLE MASS CUT GIVES 20 +- 7 PCT BACKGROUND CONTAMINATION.
The total cross sections for the elastic electroproduction of $\rh0$ and $J/\Psi$ mesons for $Q~2$ $>$ 8 GeV$~2$ and $\langle W \rangle \simeq 90$ GeV/c$~2$ are measured at HERA with the H1 detector. The measurements are for an integrated electron$-$proton luminosity of $\simeq$3pb$~{-1}$. The dependences of the total virtual photon$-$proton ($\gamma~* p$) cross sections on $Q~2$, $W$ and the momentum transfer squared to the proton ($t$), and, for the $\rho$, the dependence on the polar decay angle ($\cos \theta~*$), are presented. The $J/\Psi$ : $\rh0$ cross section ratio is determined. The results are discussed in the light of theoretical models and of the interplay of hard and soft physics processes.

A high-mass Δ resonance is observed in several final states from π + p interactions at 10.3 GeV/ c . We obtain fitted mass and width values for this structure of 1871 ± 22 MeV and 205 ± 43 MeV, respectively. The branching ratios for decays to π + p, p π + π 0 , n π + π + and Σ + K + are found to be 0.48 ± 0.15, 0.26 ± 0.07, 0.24 ± 0.07 and 0.03 ± 0.01, respectively. The Δϱ, Δω differential cross sections and the ϱ 0 density matrix elements are examined.

Measurements of the polarised beam asymmetry parameter Σ for eta photoproduction from protons, have been carried out at incident energies of 2.5 GeV and 3.0 GeV, and for various t -values between −0.2 (GeV/c) 2 and −1.2 (GeV/c) 2 . The values of Σ are close to +1 for values of | t | less than 0.7 (GeV/c) 2 , showing that there can be little contribution from unnatural parity exchange in any Regge exchange model of the process, in disagreement with present theories. Differential cross sections for the process werre also measured, and are consistent with those from other experiments.

We have observed diffraction dissociation of KL0 mesons with a carbon target into the exclusive final states KS0π+π−, KS0ω, and KS0φ. The diffraction production cross section for these states is not strongly dependent on the incident energy, varying at most by 30% between 75 and 150 GeV. The mass distributions do not change appreciably as a function of laboratory energy. The ratio of the diffractive mass-threshold production of K*±π∓, KS0ρ, KS0ω, and KS0φ is compared with previously obtained lower-energy data.

CROSS SECTIONS PER NUCLEUS.
The cross section for the elastic photoproduction of \r0\ mesons ($\gamma p \rightarrow \rho~0 p$) has been measured with the H1 detector at HERA for two average photon-proton centre-of-mass energies of 55 and 187GeV. TheFcenterline lower energy point was measured by observing directly the $\rho~{0}$ decay giving a cross section of $9.1\pm 0.9\,(\stat)\pm 2.5\,(\syst)\;\mu$b. The logarithmic slope parameter of the differential cross section, ${\rm d}\sigma/{\rm d}t$, is found to be $10.9 \pm 2.4\,(\stat) \pm 1.1\,(\syst)\;$GeV$~{-2}$. The \r0\ decay polar angular distribution is found to be consistent with s-channel helicity conservation. The higher energy cross section was determined from analysis of the lower part of the hadronic invariant mass spectrum of diffractive photoproduction and found to be $13.6\pm 0.8\,(\stat)\pm 2.4\,(\syst)\;\mu$b.
