Differential cross sections and density-matrix elements in ρ− decay have been measured at 6 GeV/c for p¯p→π+ρ− and its line-reversed partner π−p→pρ− in the range tmin>t>−1.5 (GeV/c)2. The reactions satisfy line-reversal symmetry and the ρ− decay is consistent with isotropy for −t≲0.5 (GeV/c)2. For −t≳0.5 (GeV/c)2, the differential cross sections show a weaker t dependence, and the decays become anisotropic.

FROM ROUGHLY EQUAL NUMBERS OF RHO- EVENTS AND BACKGROUND (CONSISTENT WITH ISOTROPY FOR BOTH REACTIONS).
At a square of the momentum transfer of 1.0 (GeV/c)2 the elastic scattering of electrons on deuterons has been measured at electron scattering angles of 8°, 60°, and 82°. From these data we have extracted a value of B(q2)=(0.59±1.20)×10−5 for the deuteron. This measurements extends the range in momentum transfer by almost a factor of 2 over the previous measurements.

Evidence is presented for a new meson resonance at 2340±20 MeV, with a width of 180±60 MeV, decaying primarily into ρρπ. The resonance, which is observed in 15-GeV/c π+p interactions, has isotopic spin 1 or 2 and odd G parity. The cross section for production of the ρρπ state is 7.3±1.7 μb. Branching ratios into ρρπ and other decay modes are given.

Proton polarization in γd→pn has been measured at c.m. angle around 90° and photon energies from 325 to 725 MeV. The polarization increases sharply with the photon energy, reaching a high maximum of (-80±8)% around 500-550 MeV. Such a high polarization with a sharp energy dependence seems to indicate a new effect in the dibaryon system.

Total cross sections of π± and K± on protons and deuterons have been measured at 50, 100, 150, and 200 GeV/c. All of the cross sections rise with increasing momentum.

PARTICLE-ANTIPARTICLE CROSS SECTION DIFFERENCES - SOME COMMON ERRORS CANCEL.
The photoproduction of the ψ(3100) meson from a beryllium target has been measured using an 11.8-GeV bremsstrahlung beam. The energy and angular dependence of the measured spectra may be obtained from an elastic nucleon cross section of the form dσdt=(1.01±0.20)exp[(1.25±0.20)t] nb/GeV2. This cross section is exceedingly small in comparison with those of the other vector mesons.
ELECTRON PAIR PRODUCTION FROM BERYLLIUM TARGET. ELASTIC CROSS SECTION VALUE ALLOWS FOR SYSTEMATIC UNCERTAINTIES AND POSSIBLE INELASTIC CONTRIBUTIONS. -TMIN = 0.41 GEV**2.
A spin and parity decomposition is presented of the (π+π+π−) final state formed opposite a proton by incident 13-GeV/c π+ mesons. The A3 enhancement is identified as the 2− amplitude decaying to f0π+ via an S wave. A change in relative phase is noted between the 2−S amplitude and the other principal contributions; this is not incompatible with analyses of the (3π)− system. The method employs the University of Illinois three-body partialwave analysis program.
A3+ DEFINED AS JP=2- S-WAVE.
Evidence is presented for an enhancement in the ωππ mass spectrum at the A2 mass region in π+p interactions at 5 GeV/c. Assuming this effect to be the A2, we calculate the decay rate relative to the ρπ decay mode and obtain the results 0.29 ± 0.08 and 0.10 ± 0.04 for the two final states A20Δ++ and A2+p, respectively. Possible explanations of the discrepancy between these numbers are suggested.

We have measured total cross sections for p−p scattering with the results σT=40.42±0.27 mb at 200 GeV/c and 40.40 ± 0.28 mb at 300 GeV/c. Our 300-GeV/c result is significantly higher than published data from the CERN intersecting storage rings. Our data, taken together with the Serpukhov data, indicate that the cross section rises ≅ 2 mb between 60 and 250 GeV. The variation of the cross section with energy may be more complicated than the a+blnsα behavior commonly assumed for Elab≳50 GeV.
Axis error includes +- 0.0/0.0 contribution (QUOTED ERRORS ARE COMBINED STATISTICAL AND SYSTEMATIC).
The amplitude and phase for coherent regeneration in hydrogen and deuterium have been measured for six momentum bins in the range 3.5-10.5 GeV/c. Over this region the phase, ϕf, is consistent with being constant and has the value - 60°±8° for hydrogen and - 46°±8° for deuterium. Power-law fits of the form plabn for the amplitudes when combined with other data give n=−0.60±0.02 for hydrogen and n=−0.52±0.02 for deuterium.
