We present a new measurement of the total photoproduction cross section performed with the H1 detector at HERA. For an average centre of mass energy of 200GeV a value of $\sigma_{tot}~{\gamma{p}}= 165\pm2\pm11\mu$b has been obtained. A detailed analysis of the data in adequate kinematic regions enabled a decomposition of the total cross section in its elastic, single diffractive dissociation and remaining non-diffractive parts, based on safe assumptions on the double diffractive dissociation contribution.

The results of a search for pair production of the lighter scalar partners of top quarks in 2.05 fb-1 of pp collisions at sqrt(s) =7 TeV using the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are reported. Scalar top quarks are searched for in events with two same flavour opposite-sign leptons (electrons or muons) with invariant mass consistent with the Z boson mass, large missing transverse momentum and jets in the final state. At least one of the jets is identified as originating from a b-quark. No excess over Standard Model expectations is found. The results are interpreted in the framework of R-parity conserving, gauge mediated Supersymmetry breaking `natural' scenarios, where the neutralino is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle. Scalar top quark masses up to 310 GeV are excluded for the lightest neutralino mass between 115 GeV and 230 GeV at 95% confidence level, reaching an exclusion of the scalar top quark mass of 330 GeV for the lightest neutralino mass of 190 GeV. Scalar top quark masses below 240 GeV are excluded for all values of the lightest neutralino mass above the Z boson mass.
The missing ET distribution from the combined EE and MUMU data for SR1. Tabulated are the observed Data rates and the Standard Model predictions as well as the distributions expected for two signal scenarios, both with an STOP mass of 250 GeV, and NEUTRALINO1 masses of 100 GeV and 220 GeV respectively.
The number of b-tagged jets for SR1 for the combined EE and MUMU channels. Tabulated are the observed Data rates and the Standard Model predictions as well as the distributions expected for two signal scenarios, both with an STOP mass of 250 GeV, and NEUTRALINO1 masses of 100 GeV and 220 GeV respectively.
The distrubution of leading jet pT for SR1 for the combined EE and MUMU channels. Tabulated are the observed Data rates and the Standard Model predictions as well as the distributions expected for two signal scenarios, both with an STOP mass of 250 GeV, and NEUTRALINO1 masses of 100 GeV and 220 GeV respectively. The last pT bin includes the number of overflow events for both data abd SM expectation.
We have measured cross sections for forward neutron production from a variety of targets using proton beams from the Fermilab Main Injector. Measurements were performed for proton beam momenta of 58 GeV/c, 84 GeV/c, and 120 GeV/c. The cross section dependence on the atomic weight (A) of the targets was found to vary as $A^(alpha)$ where $\alpha$ is $0.46\pm0.06$ for a beam momentum of 58 GeV/c and 0.54$\pm$0.05 for 120 GeV/c. The cross sections show reasonable agreement with FLUKA and DPMJET Monte Carlos. Comparisons have also been made with the LAQGSM Monte Carlo.

The rates for forward electroproduction of single charged pions from deutrium have been measured in the resonance region, at a virtual photon mass squared ≈−0.5( GeV/ c 2 ) 2 . Results are presented in the form of a π − to π + cross-section ratio.

The ratio of π - to π + electroproduction cross sections from deuterium has been measured in the resonance region, at a four-momentum transfer squared close to −1.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 . Results in the forward direction are presented and a comparison is made with predictions based on SU(6) W and the Melosh transformation.

We report the results of first physics runs of the L3 detector at LEP. Based on 2538 hadron events, we determined the mass m z 0 and the width Γ z 0 of the intermediate vector boson Z 0 to be m z 0 =91.132±0.057 GeV (not including the 46 MeV LEP machine energy uncertainty) and Γ z 0 =2.588±0.137 GeV. We also determined Γ invisible =0.567±0.080 GeV, corresponding to 3.42±0.48 number of neutrino flavors. We also measured the muon pair cross section and determined the branching ratio Γ μμ = Γ h =0.056±0.006. The partial width of Z 0 →e + e − is Γ ee =88±9±7 MeV.

We have measured the mass of the Z boson to be 91.11±0.23 GeV/c2, and its width to be 1.61−0.43+0.60 GeV. If we constrain the visible width to its standard-model value, we find the partial width to invisible decay modes to be 0.62±0.23 GeV, corresponding to 3.8±1.4 neutrino species.
Data now superceded.
We have measured both the rates and the forward-backward asymmetry of ℓ + ℓ − from Z 0 →ℓ + ℓ − (where ℓ= μ , τ ) with the L3 detector. We obtained Γ ℓℓ =88±4±3 MeV and the vector neutral current coupling constant, g v =0.00±0.07 and the axial vector neutral current coupling constant, g A =−0.515±0.015.
