We report on the interactions of an incident 200 GeV / c beam composed of 33% protons, 16% kaons, and 48% pions on targets of silver and gold mounted in the Fermilab 30″ bubble chamber. Within our limited statistics, we find the total cross sections and average multiplicities to agree with previously published data. We find the KNO scaling distribution curve to be broader for heavy nuclei than for hydrogen. We present the first data for V 0 production on gold and silver. We also present, for the first time, evidence for a positive charge excess among the sample of relativistic tracks from interactions on gold and silver. We observe a trend where the positive charge excess increases with target atomic number and with increasing charged particle multiplicity. We find the charge excess to exist among the sample of particles having greater than 2 GeV / c momentum and to persist in the sample with momentum greater than 4 GeV / c .

Inspire Record 722906 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.41797

The polarization of neutral Cascade and anti-Cascade hyperons produced by 800 GeV/c protons on a BeO target at a fixed targeting angle of 4.8 mrad is measured by the KTeV experiment at Fermilab. Our result of 9.7% for the neutral Cascade polarization shows no significant energy dependence when compared to a result obtained at 400 GeV/c production energy and at twice our targeting angle. The polarization of the neutral anti-Cascade is measured for the first time and found to be consistent with zero. We also examine the dependence of polarization on transverse production momentum.

We have observed $23.2 \pm 6.0_{-0.9}^{+1.0}$ purely-leptonic decays of $D_s^+ -> \mu^+ \nu_\mu$ from a sample of muonic one prong decay events detected in the emulsion target of Fermilab experiment E653. Using the $D_s^+ -> \phi \mu^+ \nu_\mu$ yield measured previously in this experiment, we obtain $B(D_s^+ --> \mu^+ \nu_\mu) / B(D_s^+ --> \phi \mu^+ \nu_\mu) =0.16 \pm 0.06 \pm 0.03$. In addition, we extract the decay constant $f_{D_s}=194 \pm 35 \pm 20 \pm 14 MeV$.

The production of KS, Λ, Λ¯, and γ in π−p collisions at 147 GeV/c is analyzed. Cross sections, rapidity, Feynman-x, and pT2 distributions are presented and compared to charged-particle production. The energy dependence of multiplicities in π−p and pp collisions is shown. A new scaling form for the correlation of neutral- and charged-particle multiplicities is presented for compilations of πp and pp data.

We present proton-nucleus dimuon-production cross sections for masses between 4 and 15 GeV, center-of-mass rapidities between -0.23 and 0.6 and incident energies of 200, 300, and 400 GeV. The data confirm scaling to the 20% level. The dependence of continuum 〈pT〉 on beam energy is also presented.

Charged Jet Evolution and the Underlying Event in $p\bar{p}$ Collisions at 1.8 TeV

Inspire Record 564673 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.42044

The growth and development of “charged particle jets” produced in proton-antiproton collisions at 1.8 TeV  are studied over a transverse momentum range from 0.5 GeV/c to 50 GeV/c. A variety of leading (highest transverse momentum) charged jet observables are compared with the QCD Monte Carlo models HERWIG, ISAJET, and PYTHIA. The models describe fairly well the multiplicity distribution of charged particles within the leading charged jet, the size of the leading charged jet, the radial distribution of charged particles and transverse momentum around the leading charged jet direction, and the momentum distribution of charged particles within the leading charged jet. The direction of the leading “charged particle jet” in each event is used to define three regions of η−φ space. The “toward” region contains the leading “charged particle jet,” while the “away” region, on the average, contains the away-side jet. The “transverse” region is perpendicular to the plane of the hard 2-to-2 scattering and is very sensitive to the “underlying event” component of the QCD Monte Carlo models. HERWIG, ISAJET, and PYTHIA with their default parameters do not describe correctly all the properties of the “transverse” region.

Measurement of the cross section for prompt diphoton production in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 1.96$ TeV

Phys.Rev.Lett. 95 (2005) 022003, 2005.
Inspire Record 667384 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.41865

We report a measurement of the rate of prompt diphoton production in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96 ~\hbox{TeV}$ using a data sample of 207 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II). The background from non-prompt sources is determined using a statistical method based on differences in the electromagnetic showers. The cross section is measured as a function of the diphoton mass, the transverse momentum of the diphoton system, and the azimuthal angle between the two photons and is found to be consistent with perturbative QCD predictions.

Production asymmetry of D(s) from 600-GeV/c Sigma- and pi- beam

Phys.Lett.B 558 (2003) 34-40, 2003.
Inspire Record 613961 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.41958

The production of $D_s^-$ relative to $D_s^+$ as a function of $x_F $ with 600 GeV/c $\Sigma^-$ beam is measured in the interval $0.15 < x_F < 0.7$ by the SELEX (E781) experiment at Fermilab. The integrated charge asymmetries with 600 GeV/c $\Sigma^-$ beam ($0.53\pm0.06$) and $\pi^-$ beam ($0.06\pm0.11$) are also compared. The results show the $\Sigma^-$ beam fragments play a role in the production of $D_s^-$, as suggested by the leading quark model.

Inspire Record 699933 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.41844

We present a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in ppbar interactions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV using 385 pb^{-1} of data collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The results are obtained using an improved cone-based jet algorithm (Midpoint). The data cover the jet transverse momentum range from 61 to 620 GeV/c, extending the reach by almost 150 GeV/c compared with previous measurements at the Tevatron. The results are in good agreement with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD predictions using the CTEQ6.1M parton distribution functions.

Precise Measurement of Dimuon Production Cross-Sections in $\nu_{\mu}$ Fe and $\bar{\nu}_{\mu}$ Fe Deep Inelastic Scattering at the Tevatron.

Phys.Rev.D 64 (2001) 112006, 2001.
Inspire Record 553499 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.42034

We present measurements of the semi-inclusive cross sections for νμ- and ν¯μ-nucleon deep inelastic scattering interactions with two oppositely charged muons in the final state. These events dominantly arise from the production of a charm quark during the scattering process. The measurement was obtained from the analysis of 5102 νμ-induced and 1458 ν¯μ-induced events collected with the NuTeV detector exposed to a sign-selected beam at the Fermilab Tevatron. We also extract a cross-section measurement from a reanalysis of 5030 νμ-induced and 1060 ν¯μ-induced events collected from the exposure of the same detector to a quad-triplet beam by the Chicago Columbia Fermilab Rochester (CCFR) experiment. The results are combined to obtain the most statistically precise measurement of neutrino-induced dimuon production cross sections to date. These measurements should be of broad use to phenomenologists interested in the dynamics of charm production, the strangeness content of the nucleon, and the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element Vcd.
