Total cross sections of π ± , K ± , p and p on protons and deuterons have been measured at 6 momenta between 200 and 370 GeV/ c .
New measurements are reported of total cross sections for π ± , K ± , p and p on protons and deuterons at 11 momenta between 23 and 280 GeV/ c .
Elastic scattering of hadrons on protons has been measured at momenta of 50, 100, and 200 GeV/c. The meson-proton scattering is found to be independent of momentum and meson type for −t>0.8 (GeV/c)2. The momentum dependence of the pp dip at −t=1.4 (GeV/c)2 was investigated. Slope parameters are given.
Proton and antiproton total cross sections on protons and deuterons have been measured at 50, 100, 150, and 200 GeV/c. The proton cross sections rise with increasing momentum. Antiproton cross sections fall with increasing momentum, but the rate of fall decreases between 50 and 150 GeV/c, and from 150 to 200 GeV/c there is little change in cross section.
Measurements of the energy and t dependence of diffractive Jψ photoproduction are presented. A significant rise in the cross section over the energy range 60-300 GeV is observed. It is found that (30±4)% of the events are inelastic.
We have measured π+p, π−p, and pp elastic scattering at an incident-beam momentum of 200 GeV/c in the region of −t, four-momentum transfer squared, from 0.021 to 0.665 (GeV/c)2. The data allow an investigation of the t dependence of the logarithmic forward slope parameter b≡(ddt)(lndσdt). In addition to standard parametrization, we use functional forms suggested by the additive quark model to fit the measured dσdt distributions. Within the context of this model we estimate the size of the clothed quark in the pion and proton. Limits on the elastic-scattering amplitude derived from unitarity bounds are checked, and no violations are observed.
We report measurements from elastic photoproduction of ω's on hydrogen for photon energies between 60 and 225 GeV, elastic φ photoproduction on hydrogen between 35 and 165 GeV and on deuterium between 45 and 85 GeV, elastic photoproduction on deuterium of an enhancement at 1.72 GeV/c2 decaying into K+K−, and elastic and inelastic photoproduction on deuterium of pp¯ pairs.
This paper reports on measurements of the total cross section for the inclusive reaction vμ+N, as a function of incident energy. Neutrinos and antineutrinos with energy in the range 3
Data on inclusive jet production in the transverse-momentum (p⊥) range 0-8 GeV/c for 200-GeV/c p, π−, π+, K−, K+, and p¯ incident on a hydrogen target are presented. The jet cross section is fully corrected for losses and biases, and compared with the predictions of a model based on quantum chromodynamics. Both the absolute cross section and the inclusive charged-particle distributions inside and outside the jet are in qualitative agreement with the model.
We present the results of a search for third generation leptoquark (LQ) pairs in 110±8pb−1of p¯p collisions at s=1.8TeV recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We assume third generation leptoquarks decay to a τ lepton and a b quark with branching ratio β. We observe one candidate event, consistent with standard model background expectations. We place upper limits on σ(p¯p→LQLQ¯)̇β2 as a function of the leptoquark mass MLQ. We exclude at 95% confidence level scalar leptoquarks with MLQ<99GeV/c2, gauge vector leptoquarks with MLQ<225GeV/c2, and nongauge vector leptoquarks with MLQ<170GeV/c2 for β=1.
