The ratio of the number of W+1 jet to W+0 jet events is measured with the D0 detector using data from the 1992–93 Tevatron Collider run. For the W→eν channel with a minimum jet ET cutoff of 25 GeV, the experimental ratio is 0.065±0.003stat±0.007syst. Next-to-leading order QCD predictions for various parton distributions agree well with each other and are all over 1 standard deviation below the measurement. Varying the strong coupling constant αs in both the parton distributions and the partonic cross sections simultaneously does not remove this discrepancy.
Two values of ALPHA_S corresponds the two different parton distribution functions (pdf) used in extraction of ALPHA_S from the ratio. The dominant systematic error is from the jet energy scale uncertainty.
We report evidence for the Cabibbo-suppressed decay of the charm baryon Λ c + into the final state pK − K + . The analysis is performed on data collected by high energy photoproduction experiment E687 during the 1990–1991 Fermilab fixed target run. The branching ratio of the decay Λ c + → pK − K + relative to the non-suppressed Λ c + → pK − π + is measured to be BR( pK − K + / pK − π + ) = 0.096 ± 0.029 ± 0.010. The upper limit of the decay into pø relative to the inclusive pK − K + decay is measured to be BR( pø / pK − K + < 58% at the 90% confidence level.
We report on a study of the ratio of inclusive three-jet to inclusive two-jet production cross sections as a function of total transverse energy in p-pbar collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV, using data collected with the D0 detector during the 1992-1993 run of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The measurements are used to deduce preferred renormalization scales in perturbative O(alpha_s^3) QCD calculations in modeling soft-jet emission.
First and second errors correspond to uncorrelated (C=UNCORR) and correlated (C=CORR) uncertainties. Uncorrelated uncertainties include statistical and uncorrelated systematic uncertainties added in quadrature.
The production cross-sections of $J/\psi$ mesons in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=5$ TeV are measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $9.13\pm0.18~\text{pb}^{-1}$, collected by the LHCb experiment. The cross-sections are measured differentially as a function of transverse momentum, $p_{\text{T}}$, and rapidity, $y$, and separately for $J/\psi$ mesons produced promptly and from beauty hadron decays (nonprompt). With the assumption of unpolarised $J/\psi$ mesons, the production cross-sections integrated over the kinematic range $0<p_{\text{T}}<20~\text{GeV}/c$ and $2.0<y<4.5$ are $8.154\pm0.010\pm0.283~\mu\text{b}$ for prompt $J/\psi$ mesons and $0.820\pm0.003\pm0.034~\mu\text{b}$ for nonprompt $J/\psi$ mesons, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These cross-sections are compared with those at $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV and $13$ TeV, and are used to update the measurement of the nuclear modification factor in proton-lead collisions for $J/\psi$ mesons at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}}=5$ TeV. The results are compared with theoretical predictions.
Double-differential production cross-sections for prompt $J/\psi$ mesons in ($p_\text{T},y$) intervals. The first uncertainties are statistical, the second are correlated systematic uncertainties shared between intervals, the third are uncorrelated systematic uncertainties, and the last are correlated between $p_\text{T}$ intervals and uncorrelated between $y$ intervals.
Double-differential production cross-sections for nonprompt $J/\psi$ mesons in ($p_\text{T},y$) intervals. The first uncertainties are statistical, the second are correlated systematic uncertainties shared between intervals, the third are uncorrelated systematic uncertainties, and the last are correlated between $p_\text{T}$ intervals and uncorrelated between $y$ intervals.
Single-differential production cross-sections for prompt $J/\psi$ mesons as a function of $p_\text{T}$. The first uncertainties are statistical, the second are correlated systematic uncertainties shared between intervals, and the last are uncorrelated systematic uncertainties.
A search for a heavy charged gauge boson, W ′, using the decay channels W ′ → eν and W′ → τν → eνν ν is reported. The data used in the analysis were collected by the DØ experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron during the 1992-93 p p collider run from an integrated luminosity of 13.9 ± 0.8 pb −1 at s =1.8 TeV . Assuming that the neutrino from W ′ decay is stable and has a mass significantly less than m W ′ , an upper limit at the 95% confidence level is set on the cross section times branching ratio for p p → W′ → eν . A W ′ with the same couplings to quarks and leptons as the standard model W boson is excluded for m W ′ < 610 GeV/c 2 .

The W'+- is assumed has the couplings to quarks and leptons as the standard model W and neutrinos produced in WPRIME decay are stable and have a mass significantly less then M(W').
Antiproton production cross-sections have been measured for p+C, C+C, C+Cu and C+Pb collisions at 3.65 GeV/nucleon.\(\bar p\) laboratory momentum and angle are 0.8 GeV/c and 24°. The target mass dependence parameter is found to be 0.43±0.1. A strong increase in antiproton yield is observed from p+C, d+C to C+C collisions. Projectile mass parameter is 1.2±0.2 for d+C to C+C. The construction and calibration of APAKI, an annihilation detector for\(\bar p\) identification, are also described.
DO has measured the inclusive production cross section of W and Z bosons in a sample of 13 pb$^{-1}$ of data collected at the Fermilab Tevatron. The cross sections, multiplied by their leptonic branching fractions, for production in pbar-p collisions at sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV are sigma_W*B(W->e nu) = 2.36+-0.02+-0.08+-0.13 nb, sigma_W*B(W->mu nu) = 2.09+-0.06+-0.22+-0.11 nb, sigma_Z*B(Z->e+ e-) = 0.218+-0.008+-0.008+-0.012 nb, and sigma_Z*B(Z->mu+ mu-) = 0.178+-0.022+-0.021+-0.009 nb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic; the third reflects the uncertainty in the integrated luminosity. For the combined electron and muon analyses, we find sigma_W*B(W->l mu)/sigma_Z*B(Z->l+ l-) = 10.90+-0.52. Assuming standard model couplings, we use this result to determine the width of the W boson, and obtain Gamma(W) = 2.044+-0.097 GeV.

We report measurements of charm particle production asymmetries from the Fermilab photoproduction experiment E687. An asymmetry in the rate of production of charm versus anticharm particles is expected to arise primarily from fragmentation effects. We observe statistically significant asymmetries in the photoproduction of D + , D ∗+ and D 0 mesons and find small (but statistically weak) asymmetries in the production of the D s + meson and the Λ c + baryon. Our inclusive photoproduction asymmetries are compared to predictions from nonperturbative models of charm quark fragmentation.
A study of the reactions p Xe → K + K + X , p Xe → K + H(H → Σ − p)X and p Xe → K + K + H(H → Σ − p)X was performed using the 700-litre xenon bubble chamber DIANA, exposed to the 1 GeV/ c antiproton beam of ITEP (Moscow). From a sample of 7.8 · 10 5 antiproton annihilations at low energy in xenon nuclei 4 events were observed for the reaction p Xe | → K + K + X at rest ( P p ≤ 400 MeV /c ) and 8 for the same reaction in flight ( 400 ≤ P p ≤ 900 MeV /c ). The corresponding probabilities turned out to be 3.1 · 10 −5 and 3.4 · 10 −5 , respectively. No H -event was found in the two semi-inclusive reactions p Xe → K + HX and p Xe → K + K + HX . This lead to the upper limits 6 · 10 −6 and 8 · 10 −6 (90% C.L.), respectively. The corresponding upper limit for the fully inclusive reaction p Xe → HX turned out to be 1.2 · 10 −5 (90% C.L.), which is about one order of magnitude lower than the actual value reported in the literature.
