The KS0KS0π0 system has been studied in the exclusive reaction π−p→KS0KS0π0n at 21.4 GeV/c. Evidence for the production of the f1(1285) and the η(1460) is presented. The η(1460) is produced away from minimum momentum transfer in the presence of nonresonant K*K (S-wave) production and phase-space background. The observed mass, width, and decay properties of the η(1460) are consistent with those attributed to the ι(1460) observed in radiative Jψ decay.
Studies have been made of the reactions π + p→p π + π + π − and π − p→p π + π − π − , both at an incident pion momentum of 18.5 GeV/ c . The two-body (primarily Δ ++ and ϱ o and three-body (low-mass A enhancement, A 3 , N ∗ (1400), and N ∗ (1700)) subsystems are discussed. Cross sections for all significant channels of the reactions are given.

Inclusive cross sections and invariant single-particle distributions are presented for positive pions and protons produced in 8.05-GeV/c π−p and 18.5-GeV/c π±p inclusive reactions. Distributions in pT2 and in the longitudinal variables x, y (c.m.) and pl (lab) are shown. Comparisons are made with inclusive distributions for other particles produced in the same reactions.

Significant two-particle correlations of dynamical origin are observed in 200 GeV/c π−p inclusive interactions. This is demonstrated by comparison with kinematic correlations calculated from an independent-particle-emission model. Two distinct correlation types are observed: (a) unlike-particle correlations with correlation length ∼ 1.3 rapidity units independent of azimuthal separation, and (b) like-particle correlations with correlation length ∼ 0.4 rapidity units which are observed only for small azimuthal separations.

Evidence is presented for a new meson resonance at 2340±20 MeV, with a width of 180±60 MeV, decaying primarily into ρρπ. The resonance, which is observed in 15-GeV/c π+p interactions, has isotopic spin 1 or 2 and odd G parity. The cross section for production of the ρρπ state is 7.3±1.7 μb. Branching ratios into ρρπ and other decay modes are given.

Using bubble-chamber data on the reactions π+d→pspπ0π0, π+d→pspπ+π−, and π−p→nπ+π− at 7 GeV/c incident π momentum, π−π phase shifts are determined for 0.6<M(ππ)<1.5 GeV/c2. An I=0S-wave resonance is observed in the f0 peak region of M(ππ). Constructive ρ−ω interference is found in the reaction π+n→pπ+π− and evidence is presented for some specifically deuteron effects in the data with large spectator-proton momentum.

We have studied ϱ − production at 8 GeV / c . The data cannot be explained by one-pion-exchange with absorption and we conclude that vector exchange contributes. This contrasts with ϱ o production at this energy and ϱ − production at lower energy.

Production and decay properties of the B-meson are studied in the reactions π±p→B±p at 11 GeV/c. Values for mass, width, total and differential cross-sections and spin density matrix elements are given. The spin and parity, and the helicity states in the B→πω decay, are analysed.
BREIT-WIGNER FIT WITH 30 PCT BACKGROUND SUBTRACTED AND CORRECTED FOR UNSEEN OMEGA DECAYS.
FOR <OMEGA PION> EVENTS IN THE B REGION (1.16 TO 1.32 GEV) WITHOUT SUBTRACTING BACKGROUND.
ASSUMING B HAS SPIN-PARITY OF 1+.
A coupled channel analysis has been carried out using a new amplitude analysis of the K 0 s K 0 s system produced in the reaction π − p→K 0 s K 0 s n at 22 GeV/ c , which contained about 40 000 new events in the low- t region (| t − t min |<0.1 GeV 2 ). Here only the I G =0 + , J PC =2 ++ amplitude from this analysis is considered, together with available data from other experiments in channels with the same quantum numbers in order to determine which 2 ++ isoscalar mesons have significant pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar couplings. It is found that four poles, f(1270), f'(1525), θ(1690), and f r (1810), are needed, plus a smooth background in order to fit these data; the need for the θ(1690) depends on the J/ψ radiative decay alone, and the f r (1810) is seen only in hadronic production.
Single-pion production has been studied in the reactions π−p→π−π+n and π−p→π−π0p at 790, 830, and 870 MeV. A total of 4193 events in these two channels, divided approximately equally between the three energies, have been identified. The most interesting feature of the data is the tendency for events to concentrate at high values of mππ and low values of four-momentum transfer. These effects are discussed in terms of conventional isobar models and a model involving two-pion exchange. Partial cross sections for the reactions studied are reported for each energy.
