Differential cross-section and polarization measurements for the reaction π − p → K 0 Σ 0 are presented from 1395 to 2375 MeV/ c incident beam momentum. The polarization data from an earlier experiment, from thershold to 1334 MeV/ c , have been re-analysed by an improved method leading to a substantial reduction in the errors.

New data are presented on the reaction π − p→K 0 Λ 0 at 13 incident momenta between 1395 and 2375 MeV/ c . A partial-wave analysis has been performed using these data and previous data at lower momenta. The resulting resonance parameters are in broad agreement with recent πN analyses and with the predictions of SU(6) W × O(3) for the couplings.

The first measurements of spin-rotation in meson-baryon scattering in the resonance region are presented. These measurements, for the reaction π − p → K 0 Λ , confirm the main predictions of a previous partial-wave analysis. Comments are made on resonant couplings in the reaction π − p → K 0 Λ .

Differential cross sections for elastic scattering of negative pions on protons are presented for 16 momenta between 996 MeV/ c and 1342 MeV/ c . The cross sections are compared with the predictions from published phase-shift analyses.

The polarisation of the recoil sigma in the reaction π + p → K + Σ + has been measured at 12 production angles at a beam momentum of 1.11 GeV /c using counters and spark chambers. The new data are compared with existing phase shift solutions of π p → K Σ channels in the low energy region.
THE ASYMMETRY PARAMETER, ALPHA, FOR SIGMA+ --> P PI0 IS CLOSE TO -1. THE LAST DATA VALUE IS DEDUCED FROM ALL THE EXPERIMENTAL EVENTS.
The reaction π − p → φφ n has been isolated at 16 GeV/ c and its cross section determined to be 40 ± 10 nb. The φφ mass spectrum shows a threshold enhancement between 2.1 and 2.5 GeV. A successful description of the angular content of the φφ system requires two interferingss J P = 2 + states.

SLOPE OF DIFFERENTIAL TP(P=3,P=2) DISTRIBUTION.
We have used an optical spark-chamber spectrometer to perform a systematic study of the reaction π−p→ΛK0 at beam momenta between 930 and 1130 MeV/c. The cross section, angular distribution, and Λ polarization have been measured. We present our complete data from a sample of 11 400 events along with Legendre polynomial coefficients for the angular distributions. No striking cross-section enhancement at ΣK threshold is observed, but there is evidence for a small cusp effect. A simple model which takes account of the ΣK channel provides a good fit to our data.

The reaction π − p → K + K − π − p at 16 GeV/ c was studied in the CERN OMEGA spectrometer and a partial-wave analysis (PWA) of the low-mass (K + K − π − ) system (1.3–2.0 GeV) was performed. Only states in the unnatural spin-parity series produced by natural parity exchange are important and they approximately conserve t -channel helicity. The 1 + S K ∗ K wave dominates the low-mass (K + K − π − ) region. We observe an enhancement in 2 − P K ∗ K wave at a mass of 1.7 GeV, consistent with the decay of the A 3 resonance.
TOTAL ACCEPTANCE CORRECTED CROSS SECTION.
We have measured the cross section, the angular distribution, and the Λ polarization for the reaction π−p→ΛK0. A spark-chamber spectrometer was used to collect 8400 ΛK0 events at fourteen beam momenta near ΣK threshold. Our data do not show the prominent cross-section enhancement suggested by some previous experiments. However, detailed structure in the cross section and the angular distribution agrees well with a simple model which includes a cusp effect at ΣK threshold.

The reactions π + p → π + ( K + K + K − K − ) p and pp → p ( K + K + K − K − ) p in which the K + K + K − K − system is centrally produced have been studied at 85 GeV c . Evidence is found for φφ production. The relative rates for production of φφ , φK + K − and K + K + K − K − have been determined.
The reactions π + p → π + (K + K − )p and pp → p(K + K − )p where the K + K − system is centrally produced have been studied at 85 GeV/ c . The K + K − spectrum contains several structures in the regions of S ∗ ø , f A 2 and f′. Structure is observed in the 1.7 GeV mass region which cannot be attributed to the g meson. The most likely interpretation of the data is that we observe the θ with a mass of 1.742 GeV and a new resonance at a mass of 1.629±0.010 GeV with a width of 0.082±0.030 GeV.
Cross sections, differential cross sections, density matrix elements and statistical tensors are given for the reactions π + p → ( ϱ 0 , ω ) Δ ++ at 13.2 GeV/ c . A discussion of the results in terms of particle exchanges, quark model or dipole coupling constraints, and the equal phase hypothesis is presented in some detail for the high statistics ϱ 0 Δ ++ channel.

Data on the reactions π − p → p π − , p p → π + π − , K − p → pK and p p → p p at 8 and 12 GeV/ c are presented. Our results agree with line reversal symmetry (between π − p → p π − and p p → π + π − ), Regge pole behaviour for non-exotic reactions ( π − p → p π − , p p → π + π − ), and universal behaviour for exotic reactions ( p p → p p , K − p → pK − ) with d σ /d u | u =0 ∼ s −10 excluding the existence of a “glory” mechanism in p p elastic backward scattering in our energy range.

The reaction π−p→η′η′n has been studied atpπ=37 GeV/c. Total of 14 events of this reaction have been selected. It has been shown that in the effective mass spectrum of the η′η′ system the events are concentrated mainly near the reaction threshold, which might be caused by the decayX(1910)→η′η′. The reaction cross-section has been evaluated: σ(π−p→η′η′n)=110±40 nb.
