In the reaction p p → 3π + 3π − 2227 events, and in the reaction p p → 3π + 3π − π 0 6578 events have been analyzed. The general characteristics of the reactions, such as total cross sections, angular and momentum distributions, the production of ϱ, f, ω and η mesons, and angular correlations are presented.

We present cross sections for e+e−→hadrons, e+e−, and μ+μ− near 3095 MeV. The ψ(3095) resonance is established as having an assignment JPC=1−−. The mass is 3095 ±4 MeV. The partial width to electrons is Γe=4.8±0.6 keV and the total width Γ=69±15 keV. Total rates and interference measurements for the lepton channels are in accord with μ−e universality.
The total cross section for e + e − annihilation into hadronic final states between 3.6 and 5.2 GeV was measured by the nonmagnetic inner detector of DASP, which has similar trigger and detection efficiencies for photons and charged particles. The measured difference in R = σ had / σμμ between 3.6 GeV and 5.2 GeV is ΔR = 2.1 ± 0.3. We observe three peaks at cm energies of 4.04, 4.16 and 4.417 GeV, the parameters of which, when interpreted as resonances, are given.

The pp total cross section difference between pure transverse spin states was measured in the laboratory momentum range 1–3 GeV/ c . Significant differences were found and these differences show striking energy dependence. This structure is in disagreement with the predictions of simple exchange models.

REVISED DATA (J. D. LESIKAR, PRIV COMM, 19 JUN 1981). NOW CORRECTED FOR COULOMB-NUCLEAR INTERFERENCE. IN ADDITION, THE LOWEST MOMENTUM DATA POINT IS NOW KNOWN TO BE IN ERROR.
Results on backward (3 π ) - system produced in π - p→p f π + π - π - reaction at 9 and 12 GeV/ c are given. The ϱ 0 π - mass spectra show two clear signals at 1050 MeV (A 1 region) and 1303 MeV (A - 2 ). The width of the enhancement in the A 1 region (195±32 MeV) is narrower than found in diffractive experiments. Total backward cross sections for those signals are of the same order of magnitude (∼0.5 μb).

We find an increase in ∑ ± production between E cm = 4 and 7 GeV which is consistent with charmed baryon production models. A search for the decay ∧ c − → ∑ ± π ± π − yields no significant peaks.
43 +- 16 ANTI-SIGMAS DETECTED ALTOGETHER.
From the study of the reaction π − p→p F p p π − using a fast proton (p F ) trigger device in the CERN Omega spectrometer, we find evidence for two narrow p p states produced mainly in association with a Δ° (1232) and a N° (1520). The statistical significance of each peak is greater than 6 standard deviations. Masses and natural widths of these resonances are respectively M = 2020 ± 3 MeV , Λ 1 = 24 ± 12 MeV and M 2 = 2204 ± 5 MeV, Λ 2 = 16 −16 +20 MeV. Our data are consistent with a small production of the narrow ∼ 1935 MeV resonance already reported. Production cross sections for these new p p resonances are given.
ERRORS TAKE INTO ACCOUNT STATISTICAL ERRORS AND BACKGROUND SUBTRACTION UNCERTAINTY BUT NOT ACCEPTANCE CORRECTIONS UNCERTAINTY OF 15 PCT.
We have found events of the form e++e−→e±+μ∓+missingenergy, in which no other charged particles or photons are detected. Most of these events are detected at or above a center-of-mass energy of 4 GeV. The missing-energy and missing-momentum spectra require that at least two additional particles be produced in each event. We have no conventional explanation for these events.
X IN RE INCLUDES TWO OR MORE UNDETECTED PARTICLES.
For the reaction π−N→V0X, where V0 is a Ks0, Λ, and Λ¯ and X are charged particles, we measured the transverse- and longitudinal-momentum distributions, and inclusive cross sections for the V0 and for K*±(892), Σ±(1385), and Ξ±(1321). We compare our results with predictions of quark-counting rules, and conclude that valence quarks play an important role in strange-particle production.

Ξ*− production was studied in the reaction K−+p→K+slow+X− at 5 GeV/c. The slow K+ was electronically detected, while the X− was observed as a missing mass, thus allowing for observation of all Ξ* independent of decay mode. The observed Ξ states were Ξ(1320), Ξ(1530), Ξ(1820), Ξ(2030), Ξ(2250), Ξ(2370), and Ξ(2500). These data establish and confirm the existence of Ξ(2250) and indicate a peculiar production-cross-section behavior for the Ξ*(2370).
