A determination of branching ratios for D meson decays into all charged particle final states is reported. The values obtained: (D ± → K ∓ π ± π ± /all D ± ) = (14 ± 6)% and ( D 0 /D 0 → K ± π ∓ π + π − /all D 0 /D 0 ) = (10 ± 4)%, are higher than those currently accepted. This result, if confirmed, implies a corresponding reduction in the accepted values for some total cross section measurements. Revised inclusive cross sections for D meson production in the forward hemisphere in π − p and pp interactions at 360 GeV/ c , are presented.

We have measured the inclusive production properties of D and D messons produced from pp interactions at s =27.4 GeV . The differential production cross section is well represented by the empirical form d 2 σ d x F d P 2 T = 1 2 [σ ( D / D )(n+1)b](1−|x F |) n exp (−bp 2 T ) with n=4.9 ± 0.5, b=(1.0±0.1)( GeV /c) −2 , and the inclusive D / D cross section σ ( D / D ) is (30.2±3.3) ωb. The QCD fusion model predicts D / D production which is in good agreement with our data except for the magnitude of the cross section which depends sensitively on the assumed mass of the charm quark.

Results of fitting the differential distributions in x F and p T 2 of D mesons produced in 400 GeV/ c p-p interactions to the form d 2 σ d x F d p T 2 ∝(1−x F ) n exp [−(p T 2 /〈p T 2 〉)] are discussed. The D + distribution is found to be relatively hard [ n =3.1±0.8〈 P t 2 〉=1.32±0.27 (GeV/ c ) 2 ] and the D̄ 0 distribution relatively soft [ n =8.1±1.9,〈 p T 2 〉=0.62±0.14 (GeV/ c ) 2 ] compared to the average for all D's [ n =4.9±0.5,〈 p T 2 〉=0.99±0.10 (GeV/ c ) 2 ]. It is suggested that these distributions could reflect contribution of leading di-quarks in pp collisions. Comparison is made with evidence for leading quarks in charm production in 360 GeV/ cπ − p interactions.
The invariant (C=INV) and non-invariant (C=NON-INV) distributions are fitted to (1-XL)**POWER. Pt distribution is fitted to EXP(-PT**2/SLOPE).
The Mark II detector at SPEAR has been used to study D-meson production in e+e− annihilation at center-of-mass energies between 3.8 and 6.7 GeV. The neutral and charged D mesons are identified from their K∓π± and K∓π±π± decay modes. Measurements of RD and of the inclusive differential cross section s dσdz are presented. The quasi-two-body cross sections σDD¯, σD*D¯, and σD*D¯* are derived from an overall fit to the D recoil spectra. No evidence was found for the associated production of charmed mesons and charmed baryons.

We report evidence for the production of the charged D ∗ mesons in pp̄ collisions at s = 540 GeV . The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured the differential cross section, mean transverse momentum, mean transverse momentum squared of inclusive $J/\psi$ and cross-section ratio of $\psi(2S)$ to $J/\psi$ at forward rapidity in \pp collisions at \sqrts = 510 GeV via the dimuon decay channel. Comparison is made to inclusive $J/\psi$ cross sections measured at \sqrts = 200 GeV and 2.76--13 TeV. The result is also compared to leading-order nonrelativistic QCD calculations coupled to a color-glass-condensate description of the low-$x$ gluons in the proton at low transverse momentum ($p_T$) and to next-to-leading order nonrelativistic QCD calculations for the rest of the $p_T$ range. These calculations overestimate the data at low $p_T$. While consistent with the data within uncertainties above $\approx3$ GeV/$c$, the calculations are systematically below the data. The total cross section times the branching ratio is BR $d\sigma^{J/\psi}_{pp}/dy (1.2<|y|<2.2, 0<p_T<10~\mbox{GeV/$c$}) =$ 54.3 $\pm$ 0.5 (stat) $\pm$ 5.5 (syst) nb.

We report on a polarization measurement of inclusive $J/\psi$ mesons in the di-electron decay channel at mid-rapidity at 2 $<p_{T}<$ 6 GeV/$c$ in $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV. Data were taken with the STAR detector at RHIC. The $J/\psi$ polarization measurement should help to distinguish between different models of the $J/\psi$ production mechanism since they predict different $p_{T}$ dependences of the $J/\psi$ polarization. In this analysis, $J/\psi$ polarization is studied in the helicity frame. The polarization parameter $\lambda_{\theta}$ measured at RHIC becomes smaller towards high $p_{T}$, indicating more longitudinal $J/\psi$ polarization as $p_{T}$ increases. The result is compared with predictions of presently available models.

The $\jpsi$ $\pt$ spectrum and nuclear modification factor ($\raa$) are reported for $\pt < 5 \ \gevc$ and $|y|<1$ from 0\% to 60\% central Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at $\snn = 200 \ \gev$ at STAR. A significant suppression of $\pt$-integrated $\jpsi$ production is observed in central Au+Au events. The Cu+Cu data are consistent with no suppression, although the precision is limited by the available statistics. $\raa$ in Au+Au collisions exhibits a strong suppression at low transverse momentum and gradually increases with $\pt$. The data are compared to high-$\pt$ STAR results and previously published BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider results. Comparing with model calculations, it is found that the invariant yields at low $\pt$ are significantly above hydrodynamic flow predictions but are consistent with models that include color screening and regeneration.

Inclusive K 0 -production has been measured in e + e - annihilation at a center of mass energy of about W = 30 GeV. The ratio of K 0 + K 0 production to μ + μ - production is R K 0 = 5.6 ± 1.1 (statist. error) ± 0.8 (system.error) This value is about a factor of three higher than R K 0 at W = 7 GeV. We have searched for resonance production in the reaction γγ→Ks0Kπ. No signal was found for theηc and an upper limit for the radiative with\(\Gamma _{\gamma \gamma }^{\eta _c } \) keV (95% c.l.) is obtained. For the glueball candidate η(1440) (previouslyi) the upper limit\(\Gamma _{\gamma \gamma }^{\eta (1440)} B(\eta (1440) \to K\bar K\pi )< 1.2keV(95\% c.l.)\) is derived. In the tagged data sample resonance formation of a spin 1 state at 1420 MeV is observed, which is absent in the untagged data. The mass and width of this state are consistent with those of thef1(1420); an analysis of decay angular distributions favours positive parity.

The measurement of $K^{*}(892)^0$ resonance production via its $K^{+}\pi^{-}$ decay mode in inelastic p+p collisions at beam momentum 158 GeV/$c$ ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=17.3$ GeV) is presented. The data were recorded by the NA61/SHINE hadron spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The $\textit{template}$ method was used to extract the $K^{*}(892)^0$ signal and double differential transverse momentum and rapidity spectra were obtained. The full phase-space mean multiplicity of $K^{*}(892)^0$ mesons was found to be $(78.44 \pm 0.38 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 6.0 \mathrm{(sys)) \cdot 10^{-3}}$. Measurements of $ZZ$ production in the $\ell^{+}\ell^{-}\ell^{\prime +}\ell^{\prime -}$ channel in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV center-of-mass energy at the Large Hadron Collider are presented. The data correspond to 36.1 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of collisions collected by the ATLAS experiment in 2015 and 2016. Here $\ell$ and $\ell'$ stand for electrons or muons. Integrated and differential $ZZ \to \ell^{+}\ell^{-}\ell^{\prime +}\ell^{\prime -}$ cross sections with $Z \to \ell^+\ell^-$ candidate masses in the range of 66 GeV to 116 GeV are measured in a fiducial phase space corresponding to the detector acceptance and corrected for detector effects. The differential cross sections are presented in bins of twenty observables, including several that describe the jet activity. The integrated cross section is also extrapolated to a total phase space and to all Standard-Model decays of $Z$ bosons with mass between 66 GeV and 116 GeV, resulting in a value of $17.3 \pm 0.9$ [$\pm 0.6$ (stat.) $\pm 0.5$ (syst.) $\pm 0.6$ (lumi.)] pb. The measurements are found to be in good agreement with the Standard-Model predictions. A search for neutral triple gauge couplings is performed using the transverse momentum distribution of the leading $Z$-boson candidate. No evidence for such couplings is found and exclusion limits are set on their parameters.

The production of Λ hyperons in e+e− annihilation has been measured as a function of their total momenta, transverse momenta, and the event thrust. The total production rate is 0.213±0.012±0.018 Λ or Λ¯ per hadronic event. The observation of correlations in rapidity and angles for events with two detected Λ decays supports fragmentation models with local baryon-number compensation.

This paper presents measurements of the inclusive production cross sections of Λ baryons in e+e− annihilations at s=29 GeV. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 256 pb−1 collected with the High-Resolution Spectrometer at the SLAC storage ring PEP. Comparisons are made to the predictions of the Lund model. The data are well described with use of a strange-diquark suppression parameter, (usud)(sd), of 0.89 ± 0.10−0.16+0.56, and the measured Λc→Λ+X branching ratio of (23 ± 10)%.

The result of a feasibility study to measure the Λ polarization in associated K + – Λ electro-production is presented. This measurement was performed in the experimental Hall C at Jefferson Lab. The scattered electron was detected in the HMS spectrometer, and the electro-produced kaon and the proton from the Λ → pπ − decay were both detected in the SOS spectrometer. This quantity is very sensitive to the elementary p ( e , e ′ K ) Λ process and gives information on resonance production, and Regge exchange, among others. The result presented was measured at Q 2 =1.50 (GeV/c) 2 and cos θ Kγ CM =14°. The limits of the Λ polarization, with respect to the p γ × p K axis, were found to be −0.21 and +0.89 with a confidence level of 68%. The result is compared to theoretical predictions based on an effective hadronic field Lagrangian model and a Regge framework model.

We present results on Λc+ production in 29-GeV e+e− annihilation. The Λc+ are observed via their semileptonic decays to Λe+X and Λμ+X. With radiative corrections, we find σ(e+e−→Λc+X)〉BΛc+→eΛX)= 1.5±0.6±0.5 pb or 0.0038±0.0015±0.0012 Λc+→Λe+X decay per hadronic event, and σ(e+e−Λc+X)B(Λc+→μΛX)= 1.4±1.4±0.4 pb or 0.0035±0.0035±0.0011 Λc+→Λμ+X decay per hadronic event. These results can be used to place constraints on the predictions of various production models.

We report Λ 0 -hyperon polarization measurements at the CERN intersecting storage rings from √ s of 31 to 62 GeV. P Λ 0 changes insignificantly, +(0.8±1.7)%, over this range of √ s . However, P Λ 0 is observed to grow with Feynman- x F and with transverse momentum. At an average p t of 1.1 GeV/ c , P Λ 0 depends linearly on x F and approaches −40% at x F =0.8.

The production of $\Upsilon$ mesons in Pb-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon pair $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5 TeV is measured with the muon spectrometer of the ALICE detector at the LHC. The yields as well as the nuclear modification factors are determined in the forward rapidity region $2.5<y<4.0$, as a function of rapidity, transverse momentum and collision centrality. The results show that the production of the $\Upsilon$(1S) meson is suppressed by a factor of about three with respect to the production in proton-proton collisions. For the first time, a significant signal for the $\Upsilon$(2S) meson is observed at forward rapidity, indicating a suppression stronger by about a factor 2-3 with respect to the ground state. The measurements are compared with transport, hydrodynamic, comover and statistical hadronisation model calculations.
