We report the first measurement of a structure dependent component in the decay K^+ -> mu^+ nu gamma. Using the kinematic region where the muon kinetic energy is greater than 137 MeV and the photon energy is greater than 90 MeV, we find that the absolute value of the sum of the vector and axial-vector form factors is |F_V+F_A| =0.165 \pm 0.007 \pm 0.011. This corresponds to a branching ratio of BR(SD^+) = (1.33 \pm 0.12 \pm 0.18) \times 10^{-5}. We also set the limit -0.04 < F_V-F_A < 0.24 at 90% c.l.

A high statistics experiment was performed on Bhabha scattering at energies between 14 and 34 GeV. Good agreement with QED was observed. The combined data on Bhabha scattering and μ pair production were found to agree with the standard theory of electroweak interaction giving sin 2 θ = 0.27 −0.07 +0.06 . Assuming for the Z 0 mass a value of 90 GeV the leptonic weak coupling constants were determined to g V 2 = −0.04 ± 0.06 and g A 2 = 0.35 ± 0.09. A search for scalar leptons sets lower limits on the mass of scalar electrons of M s e > 16.6 GeV and of scalar muons of M s μ > 16.4 GeV.

We have measured deep inelastic muon-deuteron scattering in the range 0.4<Q2<3.4 and 1.6<ν<5.6 GeV. We have extracted the neutron structure function and find that νW2n differs significantly from νW2p, as also found in e−d scattering. To compare μ−d and e−d scattering we form the ratio r(Q2)=(νW2)μd(νW2)ed=N(1+Q2Λ2)−2 and find N=0.925±0.038 and 1Λ2=−0.019±0.016.

The angular distributions of the reactione+e−→μ+μ− ande+e+→τ+τ− have been measured between\(\sqrt s= 50\) and 60.8 GeV with the VENUS detector at TRISTAN. The average total cross section and the forward-backward charge asymmetry for μ-pair production are observed to be 28.3±1.4±0.8 pb and (−29.0−4.8+5.0±0.5)%, and those for τ-pair production are 27.6±1.7±1.0 pb and (−32.8−6.2+6.4±1.5)% at\(\langle \sqrt s \rangle \). These values are consistent with the predictions of the standard model of electroweak interactions.

Measurement of the cross section of W-boson pair production at LEP.

Phys.Lett.B 600 (2004) 22-40, 2004.
Inspire Record 658254 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.48792

The cross section of W-boson pair-production is measured with the L3 detector at LEP. In a data sample corresponding to a total luminosity of 629.4/pb, collected at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 189 to 209 GeV, 9834 four-fermion events with W bosons decaying into hadrons or leptons are selected. The total cross section is measured with a precision of 1.4 % and agrees with the Standard Model expectation. Assuming charged-lepton universality, the branching fraction for hadronic W-boson decays is measured to be: Br(W-->hadrons) = 67.50 +- 0.42 (stat.) +- 0.30(syst.) %, in agreement with the Standard Model. Differential cross sections as a function of the W- production angle are also measured for the semi-leptonic channels qqev and qqmv.

Update of electroweak parameters from Z decays

Z.Phys.C 60 (1993) 71-82, 1993.
Inspire Record 354298 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.47312

Based on 520 000 fermion pairs accumulated during the first three years of data collection by the ALEPH detector at LEP, updated values of the resonance parameters of theZ are determined to beMZ=(91.187±0.009) GeV, ΓZ=(2.501±0.012) GeV, σhad0=(41.60±0.27) nb, andRℓ=20.78±0.13. The corresponding number of light neutrino species isNν=2.97±0.05. The forward-backward asymmetry in lepton-pair decays is used to determine the ratio of vector to axial-vector couplings of leptons:gV2(MZ2)/gA2(MZ2)=0.0052±0.0016. Combining this with ALEPH measurements of theb andc quark asymmetries and τ polarization gives sin2θWeff=0.2326±0.0013. Assuming the minimal Standard Model, and including measurements ofMW/MZ fromp\(\bar p\) colliders and neutrino-nucleon scattering, the mass of the top quark is\(M_{top} = 156 \pm \begin{array}{*{20}c} {22} \\ {25} \\ \end{array} \pm \begin{array}{*{20}c} {17} \\ {22Higgs} \\ \end{array} \) GeV.

We have measured the form factor ratios r_V = V(0)/A_1(0) and r_2 = A_2(0)/A_1(0) for the decay D_s^+ -> phi ell^+ nu_ell, phi -> K^+ K^-, using data from charm hadroproduction experiment E791 at Fermilab. Results are based on 144 signal and 22 background events in the electron channel and 127 signal and 34 background events in the muon channel. We combine the measurements from both lepton channels to obtain r_V = 2.27 +- 0.35 +- 0.22 and r_2 = 1.57 +- 0.25 +- 0.19.

We have measured muon-proton deep inelastic scattering in the range 0.4<q2<3.6 (GeV/c)2. The data are consistent with muon-electron universality, and if the ratio ρ=νW2(μ−p)νW2(e−p) is fitted with the form ρ=N(1+q2Λ2)−2, we obtain N=0.997±0.043 and Λ−2=+0.006±0.016 (GeV/c)2. This result establishes that |Λ|>~5.1 GeV/c with 95% confidence.

Measurement of the differential Drell-Yan cross section in proton-proton collisions at $ \sqrt{\mathrm{s}} $ = 13 TeV

Inspire Record 1711625 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.88043

Measurements of the differential cross section for the Drell-Yan process, based on proton-proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment, are presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 2.8 (2.3) fb$^{-1}$ in the dimuon (dielectron) channel. The total and fiducial cross section measurements are presented as a function of dilepton invariant mass in the range 15 to 3000 GeV, and compared with the perturbative predictions of the standard model. The measured differential cross sections are in good agreement with the theoretical calculations.

We report the observation of 21 dimuon events at the CERN p p Collider with the UA1 detector. The events range in invariant dimuon mass from 2 to 22 GeV / c 2 . The properties of these events are given. The bulk of the events are consistent with heavy-flavour production (mainly b b ) with a few candidates for Drell-Yan production. There remain a few events which are difficult to interpret in terms of these processes, in particular two events with isolated, like-sign muons.
