We present a total of 273 independent data points of the analyzing powers A oono (nP) and A ooon (nP) in a large angular interval at four energies between 0.477 and 0.940 GeV. The SATURNE II polarized beam of free neutrons obtained from the break-up of polarized deuterons was scattered on the polarized Saclay frozen-spin proton target. Part of the data was obtained with a CH 2 target. A comparison of the two measured observables allows one to determine the polarization of the neutron beam. The present results provide an important contribution to any future theoretical or phenomenological analysis.

The SATURNE II polarized beam of free monochromatic neutrons was scattered either on the Saclay frozen-spin polarized proton target or on CH 2 and C targets. Present results are compared with existing elastic and quasieleastic data.

We present a total of 323 data points of the spin correlation parameter A oonn (np) in a large angular interval at eight energies between 0.8 and 1.1 GeV. The SATURNE II polarized beam of free neutrons obtained from the break-up of polarized deuterons was scattered on the polarized Saclay frozen-spin proton target. We present a total of 191 and 203 data points of the elastic neutron-protonspin correlation parameters A ookk and A oosk , respectively. Both observables were measured in a large angular interval. The observable A ookk was measured from 0.312 to 1.10 GeV and A oosk from 0.80 to 1.10 GeV. The SATURNE II polarized beam of free neutrons obtained from the break-up of polarized deuterons was scattered on the polarized Saclay frozen-spin proton target. The beam polarization was oriented either along the beam direction or sideways, the target polarization was oriented longitudinally. Data are compared with phase-shift analyses predictions and with the PSI, LAMPF and SATURNE II results. Present results provide an important contribution to any future theoretical or phenomenological analysis.

Measurements at 19 beam kinetic energies between 1795 and 2235 MeV are reported for the pp elastic scattering spin correlation parameter A00nn=ANN=CNN. The c.m. angular range is typically 60–100°. The measurements were performed at Saturne II with a vertically polarized beam and target (transverse to the beam direction and scattering plane), a magnetic spectrometer and a recoil detector, both instrumented with multiwire proportional chambers, and beam polarimeters. These results are compared to previous data from Saturne II and elsewhere.

The spin correlation parameter A00NN for 497.5 MeV proton + proton elastic scattering was determined over the center-of-momentum scattering angle region 23.1°–64.9 °. The new A00NN extend to more forward angles than existing A00NN and have significantly smaller statistical errors (±0.01–0.04). The A00NN are qualitatively described by recent phase shift analyses, but a quantitative shape and normalization discrepancy remains in the forward angle region. These new data provide important constraints for nucleon-nucleon spin-dependent amplitudes at forward angles which are used in theoretical models of nucleon-nucleus scattering.
Errors include statistical and systematic uncertainties.
We have measured the asymmetry of elastic pp scattering at small scattering angles (30–100 mrad) in the Coulomb-nuclear interference region, using the polarized proton beam of Saturne II, a segmented scintillator active target, and two telescopes of multiwire proportional chambers. Results are given at four energies — 940, 1000, 1320 and 2440 MeV-and are compared with phase-shift calculations.

In order to improve existing I=0 phase shift solutions, the spin correlation parameter ANN and the analyzing powers A0N and AN0 have been measured in n-p elastic scattering over an angular range of 50°–150° (c.m.) at three neutron energies (220, 325, and 425 MeV) to an absolute accuracy of ±0.03. The data have a profound effect on various phase parameters, particularly the P11, D23, and ε1 phase parameters which in some cases change by almost a degree. With the exception of the highest energy, the data support the predictions of the latest version of the Bonn potential. Also, the analyzing power data (A0N and AN0) measured at 477 MeV in a different experiment over a limited angular range [60°–80° (c.m.)] are reported here.

The beam analysing power at incident kinetic energy 325 MeV. Additional systematic uncertainty of +- 0.018 and a scalar error of 3.1 PCT.
The beam analysing power at incident kinetic energy 425 MeV. Additional systematic uncertainty of +- 0.022 and a scalar error of 3.3 PCT.
At the Cooler Synchrotron COSY/J\ulich spin correlation parameters in elastic proton-proton (pp) scattering have been measured with a 2.11 GeV polarized proton beam and a polarized hydrogen atomic beam target. We report results for A$_{NN}$, A$_{SS}$, and A_${SL}$ for c.m. scattering angles between 30$^o$ and 90$^o$. Our data on A$_{SS}$ -- the first measurement of this observable above 800 MeV -- clearly disagrees with predictions of available of pp scattering phase shift solutions while A$_{NN}$ and A_${SL}$ are reproduced reasonably well. We show that in the direct reconstruction of the scattering amplitudes from the body of available pp elastic scattering data at 2.1 GeV the number of possible solutions is considerably reduced.

A polarized proton beam extracted from SATURNE II was scattered on an unpolarized CH 2 target. The angular distribution of the beam analyzing power A oono was measured at large angles from 1.98 to 2.8 GeV and at 0.80 GeV nominal beam kinetic energy. The same observable was determined at the fixed mean laboratory angle of 13.9° in the same energy range. Both measurements are by-products of an experiment measuring the spin correlation parameter A oon .
