We have measured π±p and pp elastic differential cross sections in the range |cosθc.m.|<0.35 for incident momenta from 2 to 9.7 GeV/c for π−p and pp and from 2 to 6.3 GeV/c for π+p. We find that the fixed-c.m.-angle πp differential cross sections cannot be described as simple functions of s. The data are compared to the energy and angular dependence predicted by the constituent model of Gunion, Brodsky, and Blankenbecler.

Fluctuations in Large Angle $\pi^\pm p$ Elastic Scattering

Jenkins, K.A. ; Price, L.E. ; Klem, R. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 40 (1978) 429, 1978.
Inspire Record 6210 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.76245

Large-angle π±p elastic-scattering cross sections, measured between 2 and 9 GeV/c in fine intervals of incident momentum and scattering angle, are used to search for cross-section fluctuations occurring for small changes in the center-of-mass energy as suggested by Ericson and Mayer-Kuckuck and by Frautschi. Significant fluctuations are observed.

K+ p Interactions Near 3-GeV/c. 1. Elastic Scattering

Nucl.Phys.B 81 (1974) 189-204, 1974.
Inspire Record 90237 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32129

K + p elastic scattering is studied at incident K + beam momenta of 2.53, 2.76 and 3.20 GeV/ c . From the analysis of about 10 000 elastic events at each energy, we present data on the forward and backward elastic scattering peaks. No structure is observed in the forward peak for − t ⩽ 2 (GeV/ c ) 2 . In addition, the statistics available from this exposure permit a measurement of the differential cross sections near 90° in the center of mass system. These results exhibit a strong energy dependence and are compared to similar results at other energies.

K+ p elastic scattering between 2.11 and 2.72 gev/c

Nucl.Phys.B 42 (1972) 29-43, 1972.
Inspire Record 75131 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32928

Final results are presented of the analysis of the elastic channel in an exposure of 40 000 pictures at each of the four incident K + momenta 2.11, 2.31, 2.5 and 2.72 GeV/ c taken in the 1.5 m British National Hydrogen Bubble Chamber at the 8 GeV/ c proton synchrotron at the Rutherford High Energy Laboratory. Differential cross sections are presented and the results are compared with other published data. A Legendre polynomial analysis requires partial waves up to G wave at all momenta. For the backward peak, visible at each momentum, the slope and the intercept are calculated. A comparison of the forward peak is made with extrapolations from Regge models fitted at higher momenta.

K+ p Interactions Near 3-GeV/c. 2. Baryon Resonance Production

Inspire Record 1720 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.1112

Baryon resonance production in quasi-two-body reactions has been studied for the channels K + p→K°p π + , K + n π + and K + p π ° at beam momenta of 2.53, 2.76 and 3.20 GeV/ c . The production cross sections, four-momentum transfer distributions and density matrix elements are given for the Δ(1236), N ∗ (1400), N ∗ (1500) and N ∗ (1680) states. The reaction K + p→K° Δ ++ (1236) is compared to the line reversed reaction K − n → K °Δ − and the charge-exchange SU(3) sum rule for pseudo-scalar meson plus Δ(1236) is tested.

Elastic Proton-Proton Scattering at 1.35, 2.1, and 2.9 BeV

Inspire Record 944980 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.624

As a part of our program to study p−p collisions at Cosmotron energies, the differential cross sections for elastic scattering were measured at five laboratory angles between 2.3° and 17° for each incident energy. Total elastic cross sections obtained by integration are 21.4±1.4, 17.0±0.8, and 14.7±0.7 mb at 1.35, 2.1, and 2.9 BeV, respectively. The angular distribution as a function of the momentum transfer, exhibits a forward diffraction peak, the width of which shrinks slightly as the incident energy increases. The experimental results were fitted by simple optical model calculations and also compared with the predictions of the composite particle theory of Chew and Frautschi.
