Differential cross sections have been measured for π − p elastic scattering at laboratory momenta in the range 1.2 to 3.0 GeV/ c for the c.m. range 0.97 > cos θ ∗ > −0.98 . The corresponding mass range is 1.78 to 2.56 GeV/ c 2 . The data was obtained from a counter experiment in which the scattered pions and protons were detected in coincidence by arrays of scintillation counters.

Analyzing powers for πp elastic scattering were measured using the CHAOS spectrometer at energies spanning the Δ(1232) resonance. This work presents π+ data at the pion kinetic energies 117, 130, 139, 155, 169, 180, 193, 218, 241, and 267 MeV and π− data at 87, 117, 193, and 241 MeV, covering an angular range of 50°<~θc.m.<~180° at the higher energies and 90°<~θc.m.<~180° at the lower energies. Unique features of the spectrometer acceptance were employed to reduce systematic errors. Single-energy phase shift analyses indicate the resulting S11 and S31 phases favor the results of the SM95 phase shift analysis over that of the older KH80 analysis.
Measurement of the PI+ analysing power at 117 MeV.. The data were collected in the conventional mode and may be independently floated within the systematic error.
Measurement of the PI+ analysing power at 139 MeV.. The data were collected in the conventional mode and may be independently floated within the systematic error.
Measurement of the PI- analysing power at 87 MeV.. The data were collected in the conventional mode and may be independently floated within the systematic error.
Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of K + mesons on protons have been measured at 12 lab momenta between 130 and 755 MeV/ c using a hydrogen filled bubble chamber. The results are consistent with a repulsive S-wave nuclear force. A phase-shift analysis yielded the following values of the low-energy parameters: a S 1 2 =(0.309±0.002) fm , r S 1 2 =(0.032±0.02) fm a P 1 2 =(0.021±0.002) fm , a P 3 2 =(0.013±0.001) fm 3

The π + p cross section for elastic scattering from hydrogen was measured at seven incident energies ranging from 20.8 to 95.9 MeV for an angular range from 60° to 145°. The experimental set-up is discussed in detail as well as the method used for data analysis. A table of results and a set of phase shifts are provided.

K−−p interactions in the Columbia-BNL 30-in. hydrogen bubble chamber were studied at nine momenta from 594 to 820 MeVc. The results for elastic-scattering and zero-prong-plus-V0 events are presented here. Differential cross sections are given for the K−p, K¯0n, and Λπ0 final states. A fit to the K¯N channels was obtained which shows the effects of a 32− resonance at 1701 MeV. This energy is appreciably displaced from the peak in the inelastic cross section.

Analyzing powers of pion-proton elastic scattering have been measured at PSI with the Low Energy Pion Spectrometer LEPS as well as a novel polarized scintillator target. Angular distributions between 40 and 120 deg (c.m.) were taken at 45.2, 51.2, 57.2, 68.5, 77.2, and 87.2 MeV incoming pion kinetic energy for pi+ p scattering, and at 67.3 and 87.2 MeV for pi- p scattering. These new measurements constitute a substantial extension of the polarization data base at low energies. Predictions from phase shift analyses are compared with the experimental results, and deviations are observed at low energies.
Analyzing power for PI+ P elastic scattering at incidient kinetic energy 87.2 MeV from the data set 1.
Analyzing power for PI+ P elastic scattering at incidient kinetic energy 68.4 MeV from the data set 1.
Analyzing power for PI+ P elastic scattering at incidient kinetic energy 57.2 MeV from the data set 1.
The P parameter for π + p scattering at 236.3 MeV has been measured between 50° and 146° c.m. with very low background using a butanol polarized proton target. The resulting D phases are in fair agreement with dispersion relation values.

A bubble chamber investigation of π−+p elastic scattering at 1 200 MeV (K.E.) is reported. The total and differential cross-sections are determined. By extrapolation of the angular distribution, the 0° cross-section is derived and compared with the results obtained with the help of the dispersion relations and the optical theorem. The forward peak is investigated in terms of diffraction scattering and a value for the optical radius is derived.

The interactions of 775 MeV (kinetic energy) π−-mesons in a hydrogen bubble chamber have been studied. Total and partial crosssections have been determined with the following results: σ (total) = (39.0±1.6) mb, σ (elastic)=(14.8±0.7) mb, σ (π− + p → all neutrals) = (9.0 ± 0.5) mb, σ (π− + p = π− + π+ + n) = (9.8 ± 0.5) mb, and σ (π− + p = π− + p + π0) = (4.8 ± 0.3) mb. The elastic-scattering angular distribution has been fitted with a Legendre polynomial series terminated at the fifth order. Various angular and effective-mass distributions of single-π production are presented and discussed in terms of the Olsson-Yodh and O.P.E. models.
