Measurements of the invariant cross sections for the reaction p(400 GeV)+(Li6, Be,C,Al,Cu,Ta)→(π±, K±)+X at laboratory angles from 70° to 160° are reported. Upper limits for p¯ production are given. Comparisons of the data are made using several scaling variables. Transverse momentum distributions and yields for $\pi^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$, $p$ and $\bar{p}$ in $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=200 and 62.4 GeV at midrapidity are measured by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). These data provide important baseline spectra for comparisons with identified particle spectra in heavy ion collisions at RHIC. We present the inverse slope parameter $T_{\rm inv}$, mean transverse momentum $<p_T>$ and yield per unit rapidity $dN/dy$ at each energy, and compare them to other measurements at different $\sqrt{s}$ in $p+p$ and $p+\bar{p}$ collisions. We also present the scaling properties such as $m_T$ scaling, $x_T$ scaling on the $p_T$ spectra between different energies. To discuss the mechanism of the particle production in $p+p$ collisions, the measured spectra are compared to next-to-leading-order or next-to-leading-logarithmic perturbative quantum chromodynamics calculations.

We have measured the single-particle inclusive cross sections for p+p→π±+X, K±+X, p+X, p¯+X in the low-p⊥ region (≲ 1.5 GeV/c) as a function of the radial scaling variable XR in p−p collisions at 100, 200, and 400 GeV at Fermilab. The measured π+π− and K+K− ratios are shown to be remarkably similar to the same ratios which have recently been measured at large p⊥ at 90° in the center-of-mass system.

Results of high-transverse-momentum charged-hadron production in 400-GeV/c proton-proton and proton-deuteron collisions and 800-GeV/c proton-proton collisions are presented. The transverse-momentum range of the data is from 5.2 to 9.0 GeV/c for the 400-GeV/c collisions and from 3.6 to 11.0 GeV/c for the 800-GeV/c collisions; the data are centered around 90° in the proton-nucleon center-of-momentum system. Single-pion invariant cross sections and particle ratios were measured at both energies. The results are compared to previous experiments and the Lund model.
Results are given on the inclusive production of charged pions, kaons, and nucleons, in proton-proton collisions at c.m. energies from √ s = 23 to 63 GeV at large angles and for the transverse momentum range 0.1 < p T < 4.8 GeV/ c . The dependence of the production spectra on the collision energy √ s , the transverse momentum p T , and the longitudinal rapidity is discussed.
Axis error includes +- 6.0/6.0 contribution (NORMALIZAION ERROR - THE LARGEST SYSTEMATICS).
We present a study of the production of K_s^0 and Lambda^0 in inelastic pbar-p collisions at sqrt(s)= 1800 and 630 GeV using data collected by the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. Analyses of K_s^0 and Lambda^0 multiplicity and transverse momentum distributions, as well as of the dependencies of the average number and <p_T> of K_s^0 and Lambda^0 on charged particle multiplicity are reported. Systematic comparisons are performed for the full sample of inelastic collisions, and for the low and high momentum transfer subsamples, at the two energies. The p_T distributions extend above 8 GeV/c, showing a <p_T> higher than previous measurements. The dependence of the mean K_s^0(Lambda^0) p_T on the charged particle multiplicity for the three samples shows a behavior analogous to that of charged primary tracks.

Inclusive cross sections for the production of π ± and K ± mesons in proton-proton collisions have been measured at a c.m. energy √ s = 45 GeV, in the range 0.41 < x < 0.95 and 0.35 < p T < 1.45 GeV, where x = 2 p L/√ s and p L , p T are the longitudinal and transverse components of the momentum of the meson. Within the measured range the p T dependence of the invariant cross section is essentially independent of x and weakly dependent on the type of particle. For all particles the invariant cross sections at fixed p T fall by three orders of magnitude between x = 0.4 and 0.95. Except at the highest values of x and p T , the statistical accuracy is better than 10%. The data are compared with a triple-Regge model and with a simple quark-parton model.

The production properties ofKs0,\(\bar \Lambda\) andK+p interactions at 32 GeV/c are investigated using the final statistics of the experiment. We present total and semi-inclusive cross sections and aver-age multiplicities. Estimates are given of the diffractive dissociation contributions to total and differential cross sections. Thex-,pT−, and transverse mass dependence of inclusive and semi-inclusive distributions is discussed as well as properties of “prompt”Ks0's. The ratio of “prompt”K890+ (K8900) to “prompt”K0 cross sections is measured to be 1.03±0.12 (0.98±0.17). From a comparison of\(\bar \Lambda\) production inK±p interactions at 32 GeV/c, we estimate a strange sea-quark suppression of 0.26 ±0.02. The double differential cross sections ofKs0's is studied as a function of Feynman-x andpT2, and a Triple-Regge fit performed. The data are compared in detail to versions of the Lund-model for low-pT hadronic collisions.
