Longitudinal momentum distributions of π− mesons produced in 12.7 GeV/c K+p and 7 GeV/c π+p interactions

The center of mass longitudinal momentum distributions of π− mesons produced in K+p interactions at 12.7 GeV/c and in π+p interactions at 7 GeV/c exhibit an asymmetry similar to that observed, for example, in single particle production in 25 GeV/c π−p interactions. This asymmetry is discussed in terms of quark structure of hadrons and other dynamical models.

COMPARISON BETWEEN HADRONIC FINAL STATES PRODUCED IN mu p AND e+ e- INTERACTIONS

A comparison is made between the properties of the final state hadrons produced in 280 GeV μp interactions and ine+e− annihilation. The Lund model of hadroproduction is used as an aid in understanding the differences observed. The hadron distributions from μp ande+e− interactions are consistent with the quark parton model assumption of environmental independence, provided that the differences in heavy quark production and hard QCD effects in the two processes are taken into account. A comparison with aK+p experiment is also made. Values are also determined for the Lund model parameters σq = 0.410 ± 0.002 ± 0.020 GeV and σ′ = 0.29−0.15 −0.13+0.09+0.10 GeV, controlling the transverse momenta in fragmentation and intrinsic transverse momenta of the struck quark respectively.

Measurement of Inclusive $\gamma$ and $\pi^0$ Spectra and a Comparison of the Neutral and Charged Components in Hadronic Events in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at 34-{GeV}

The photonic part of multihadronice+e− annihilation events has been analyzed at a c.m. energy of 34 GeV. The photonic energy fraction per event is determined to befγ=0.251±0.003 (stat.) ±0.04 (syste.). The neutral and charged components of the events are analyzed separately revealing close similarity in thrust axis directions and momentum distributions in agreement with the hypothesis that most photons result from π0 decay. π0's are reconstructed separately and used to determine the inclusive cross section. Comparing these cross sections with lower energy data from SPEAR we find some indication for scaling violation.
