Cross sections for inelastic scattering of 635 and 715 MeV/ c K + from 12 C are compared with DWIA calculations in order to check for possible density-dependent effects on K + -nucleon cross sections within nuclei. New fits to 715 MeV/ c K + scattering spectra from 6 Li give elastic and inelastic cross sections and permit an evaluation of the density dependence of these effects. The same DWIA methods are also used to estimate quadrupole non-central contributions to elastic K + scattering from the 1 + ground state of 6 Li, and these are found to be very small.

Photoproduction of $\pi^\circ$'S from protons in the forward direction in the region of the second and third resonances

Talman, Richard Michael ; Tollestrup, Alvin V. ;

Inspire Record 44255 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37170

NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. The cross section for photoproduction of neutral pions from protons has been measured at energies near 750, 915 and 1150 Mev and over most of the forward-going [...] C.M. hemisphere. The experimental technique consisted of detecting both of the [...] decay photons with lead glass total absorption counters and, when convenient, the recoil proton with a single scintillation counter. The method is subject to rather large systematic errors but, within these, our results are consistent with other experiments wherever there are overlapping points. Our data has the striking feature that the cross section is very small at [...] in the region of the second and third pion nucleon resonances. Also, although the data is not inconsistent with a simple first, second and third resonance model, it appears likely that above the third resonance the pole process consisting of the exchange of a single vector meson is becoming important or even dominant. The evidence at this time mildly suggests that this behaviour is largely due to [...] mesons and under that hypothesis we are able to estimate some [...] meson coupling constants. For example, using a prescription of Gell-Mann and Zachariasen, we estimate the partial width for the decay [...] to be 240 Kev.

A Next-to-leading order QCD analysis of neutrino - iron structure functions at the Tevatron

Seligman, William Glenn ; Shaevitz, Michael ;

Inspire Record 441652 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37291

Nucleon structure functions measured in neutrino-iron and antineutrinoiron charged-current interactions are presented. The data were taken in two high-energy high-statistics runs by the LAB-E detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. Structure functions are extracted from a sample of 950,000 neutrino and 170,000 antineutrino events with neutrino energies from 30 to 360 Ge V. The structure functions $F_2$ and $xF_3$ are compared with the the predictions of perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics (PQCD). The combined non-singlet and singlet evolution in the context of PQCD gives NL0(4) . 2 value of $\Lambda^{NLO,(4)}_{\overline MS}$ = 337 ± 28 (exp.) MeV, which corresponds to $\alpha_s$ ($M^2_z$) = 0.119 ± 0.002 (exp.) ± 0.004 (theory), and with a gluon distribution given by $xG(x,Q^2_0 = 5 GeV^2$ ) = (2.22±0.34) x ($1-x)^{4.65 \pm 0.68}$

The Λ p å Λ p cross section has been measured in the Λ-momentum range of 120 to 320 MeV/ c using 238 events. A comparison with the effective range approximation yielded the values a s = −2.46, a t = −2.07, r s = 3.87 and r t = 4.50 in fm.

Phi Meson Production in 3.75-GeV/c pi+ p Interactions

Phys.Rev.D 17 (1978) 1256, 1978.
Inspire Record 5868 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.31764

The production of φ mesions is studied in the reaction π+p→π+p K+K− and π+→π+p K0K¯0 at 3.75 GeV/c. A large isotropic component is seen in the production angular distribution for the reaction π+p→π+pφ. The cross sections for the φπ+p and φΔ++ final states are compared with the cross sections for ωπ+p and ωΔ++ at the same momentum.

The total and differential cross sections of the K¯0p→Λπ+ and K¯0p→∑0π+ reactions have been measured in the centre-of-mass energy range of l.5 to 2.3 GeV. Using our K¯0p→∑0π+ data as well as available cross-section data of isospin related channels, we have calculated the total I=0K¯N→∑π cross section as function of energy. The results are compared with predictions obtained from K¯N phase-shift analyses.

One pion production in pp collisions at 16.2 gev/c

Nucl.Phys.B 54 (1973) 333-354, 1973.
Inspire Record 84174 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32585

A study of pp interactions at an incident momentum of 16.2 GeV/ c leading to two-prong non-strange final states was carried out in an exposure of the 2m CERN hydrogen bubble chamber. The c.m. angle and momentum distributions for the outgoing particles in the final states pn π + and pp π 0 are presented and discussed. These final states were analysed in terms of quasi two-body final states - N(Nπ), with the pion-nucleon system in an I = 1 2 or I = 3 2 state. A determination of these two isospin amplitudes and their interference term is then carried out. The reaction pp → pn π + is found to be well described by a Reggeized exchange model, as well as by a double Regge-exchange model.

Lambda p interactions in momentum range 300 to 1500 mev/c

Inspire Record 68765 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33624

A sample of approximately 250 Λp interactions has been obtained in the Λ-hyperon momentum range of about 300 to 500 MeV/ c . An enhanced Λ-hyperon production rate was obtained by exposing an internally-mounted platinum target to the incident 1.5 GeV/ c meson beam. Cross sections and angular distributions are obtained for the reactions: Λ p → Λ p, Λ p → Σ o p and Λ p → Λ p π o . In the elastic channel, no strong evidence is seen near the Σ o p threshold for the presence of a 3 S 1 resonance, which has been reported, although there is some evidence for a small enhancement in this mass region. There is evidence for the presence of P-waves and probably also D-waves above about 800 MeV/ c , but not below this momentum.

The tensor analyzing power A yy in inclusive breakup of 9 GeV/c deuterons on carbon has been measured at the detected proton angle of 85 mr. The analyzing power remains positive at the highest measured momentum of the proton in definite contradiction with the predictions of the existing models. The vector analyzing power A y has been obtained simultaneously with A yy .

Total cross-section of two photon production of hadrons

Baru, S.E. ; Beilin, M.V. ; Blinov, A.E. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 53 (1992) 219-224, 1992.
Inspire Record 33675 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.14767

The total cross section for γγ→hadrons was measured as a function of the invariant massW of the system (1.25 to 4.25 GeV) at thee+e−-collider VEPP-4 with the detector MD-1. For the first time the data were obtained by detecting both scattered leptons with almost zero emission angles. The mean squared four momentum transfer 〈q2〉 is −0.005 GeV2, the rmsW resolution is 100–250 MeV. The data on the mean charged multiplicity 〈nC〉 are well described by the function 〈nC〉=(1.62 ±0.37)+(1.83±0.45)·ln(W(GeV)). TheW dependence of the total cross section is consistent with the theoretical prediction σ(nb)=240+270/W(GeV).
