Proton-proton elastic differential cross sections have been measured for incident laboratory momenta of 600-1800 MeVc and c.m. angles of 5°-90°. The data span, in a single experiment, the intermediate energy region from isotropic differential cross sections at lower energies to the development of a clear diffraction peak at higher energies. Parameters for phenomenological formulations derived from the experimental results are presented.

The spin correlation parameter A00kk (pp) has been measured in the angular region 45°<θCM<90° at 0.719, 0.834, 0.874, 0.934, 0.995 and 1.095 GeV using the SATURNE II polarized proton beam incident on a polarized target. The parameters A00nn(pp and A00sk(pp) were measured at 0.874 in the same angular region.

The spin correlation parameter A oonn for pp elastic scattering was measured at 0.88, 1.1, 1.3, 1.6, 1.8, 2.1, 2.4 and 2.7 GeV using the SATURNE II polarized proton beam and the Saclay frozen spin polarized target. At the first two energies, the new measurements at θ CM < 50° complete our previous data from 45° to 90°. Between 1.3 and 2.7 GeV the measurements were performed in two overlapping angular regions covering together the CM angles from 28° (at the lower energies) or 18° (at the highest energy) to > 90°. At all energies above 1.3 GeV the angular distribution shows a dip at fixed four-momentum transfer − t ∼ 0.90 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The value of A oonn ( θ CM = 90°) decreases from A oonn (90°) ≅ 0.57 at 0.88 GeV to A oonn (90°) ≅ 0.35 at 2.7 GeV. However, the large value found at 1.8 GeV indicates that the energy dependence is not monotonic.

The energy dependence of the total cross section for the pp \to pK^+\Lambda reaction was measured in the threshold region covering the excess energy range up to 7MeV. Existing model calculations describe the slope of the measured cross sections well, but are too low by a factor of two to three in rate. The data were used for a precise determination of the beam momentum of the COSY-synchrotron.
Only statistical errors are presented in the table.
The $pp \to pp \eta^{\prime}$ (958) reaction has been measured at COSY using the internal beam and the COSY-11 facility. The total cross sections at the four different excess energies \mbox{$ Q = ~1.5 ~MeV, ~1.7 ~MeV, ~2.9 ~MeV,$ and $ ~4.1 MeV$} have been evaluated to be \mbox{$ \sigma = 2.5 \pm 0.5~nb$, $~~~ 2.9 \pm 1.1~nb$, $~~~ 12.7 \pm 3.2~nb$, ~ and $~~~ 25.2 \pm 3.6 ~nb $}, respectively. In this region of excess energy the $\eta^{\prime}$ (958) cross sections are much lower compared to those of the $\pi ^0$ and $\eta$ production.
Only statistical errors are presented in the table.
Exclusive differential cross sections of virtual bremsstrahlung in proton-proton scattering below the pion-production threshold have been measured for the first time. The total cross section integrated over photon invariant masses of 15 to 80MeV/c2 and integrated over the acceptance of the detector is 3.2±0.1±0.5pb. The data are compared to a low-energy calculation and a fully relativistic microscopic model, which predict a virtual bremsstrahlung cross section of 3.4 and 5.9 pb, respectively. Over the entire experimentally covered phase space, the low-energy calculation gives a better description of the data than the microscopic model.

Measurements at 19 beam kinetic energies between 1795 and 2235 MeV are reported for the pp elastic scattering spin correlation parameter A00nn=ANN=CNN. The c.m. angular range is typically 60–100°. The measurements were performed at Saturne II with a vertically polarized beam and target (transverse to the beam direction and scattering plane), a magnetic spectrometer and a recoil detector, both instrumented with multiwire proportional chambers, and beam polarimeters. These results are compared to previous data from Saturne II and elsewhere.

The reaction pp -> pp pi0 was studied with the WASA detector at the CELSIUS storage ring. The center of mass angular distribution of the pi0 was obtained by detection of the gamma decay products together with the two outgoing protons, and found to be anisotropic with a negative second derivative slope, in agreement with the theoretical predictions from a microscopic calculation.

We present the final results of a measurement of the polarization parameter P 0 in high-energy n~-p and p-p elastic scattering, performed using a target which contained polarized protons. Data were taken at beam momenta of 6.0, 8.0, 10.0 and 12.0 GeV/c for n-, and of 6.0, 10.0 and 12.0 GeV/c for n+ and p, in the interval of invariant four-momentum transfer squared-t from 0.1 to 0.75 (GeV/c)2.
