We have measured cross section for γ , K S °, Λ and Λ production at 102 GeV/ c and find: σ ( γ ) = 170 ± 16 mb ., σ ( K S °) = 4.6 ± 0.5 mb ., σ ( Λ ) = 3.2 ± 0.4 mb ., and σ( Λ ) = 0.23 ± 0.10 mb. Both 〈 n π °〉 and 〈 n Ks °〉 appear to rise linearly with n - while the ratio 〈 n Ks °〉/〈 n π °〉 is approximately independent of n - . The integrated invariant cross section as a function of x as well as d σ /d y and d σ /d p T 2 are presented and compared with other data.

We have measured the inclusive cross section for the reactions p+n→p+X and π++n→p+X at 100 GeV/c in the kinematic region |t|<1.0 GeV2. The data were obtained from an exposure of the Fermilab 30-in. deuterium-filled bubble chamber to a tagged positively charged beam. The differential cross sections for these reactions are observed to scale in the ratio of the pn and π+n total cross sections and to be consistent with the predictions of a Reggeized one-pion-exchange model.

We present preliminary results from a sample of ∼ 1200 events obtained from an exposure of the 30-in. Argonne National Laboratory—National Accelerator Laboratory liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber to 102-GeVc protons. The elastic and total inelastic cross sections are respectively 6.9 ± 1.0 and 32.8 ± 1.1 mb. The parameters of the multiplicity distribution for negative tracks are 〈n−〉=2.17±0.07, D−2=〈n−2〉−〈n−〉2=2.56±0.12, and f2−=D−2−〈n−〉=0.39±0.10.

We have measured the total inelastic cross section (σinel) and charged-particle multiplicities obtained in pp collisions at 405 GeV/c. The data are from a preliminary 12 000-picture bubble-chamber exposure. We find σinel=32.8±1.0 mb; the low moments of the multiplicity distribution for negative particles are 〈n−〉=3.50±0.07, D−=2.37±0.05, f2−=2.1±0.2, and f3−=0.1±0.9. We also present updated results at 102 GeV/c.

FIT TO ELASTIC DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTION FOR 0.05 < -T < 0.7 GEV**2.
We present results for the reactions νp→μ−π+p and νp→μ−K+p at energies above 5 GeV. The average cross section for the first reaction between 15 and 40 GeV is (0.80±0.12) × 10−38 cm2 and for events with Mπ+p<1.4 GeV is (0.55±0.08) × 10−38 cm2. The ratio of the cross section for the second reaction to that for the first is 0.017±0.010.

RAPIDITY IS MEASURED IN 'QUARK' REST FRAME DEFINED AS Y(Q)=Y(LAB)-LOG(W**2/M**2) WHERE Y(LAB)=0.5*LOG((E+PL)/(E-PL)).
We have measured the antiproton-proton elastic differential cross section in the center-of-mass angular range cosθ=−0.985 to +0.40 at six momenta between 1.6 and 2.2 GeV/c in a bubble-chamber experiment. We use the data to look for evidence of direct-channel boson resonances.

We present the analysis of the inclusive $K^{0}$ production in p+p and p+Nb collisions measured with the HADES detector at a beam kinetic energy of 3.5 GeV. Data are compared to the GiBUU transport model. The data suggest the presence of a repulsive momentum-dependent kaon potential as predicted by the Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT). For the kaon at rest and at normal nuclear density, the ChPT potential amounts to $\approx 35$ MeV. A detailed tuning of the kaon production cross sections implemented in the model has been carried out to reproduce the experimental data measured in p+p collisions. The uncertainties in the parameters of the model were examined with respect to the sensitivity of the experimental results from p+Nb collisions to the in-medium kaon potential.

The beam asymmetry, $\Sigma$, was measured at ELSA in the reaction $\vec \gamma p \to \eta p$ using linearly polarised tagged photon beams, produced by coherent bremsstrahlung off a diamond. The crystal was oriented to provide polarised photons in the energy range $E_\gamma = 800$ to 1400 MeV with the maximum polarisation of $P_\gamma = 49$ % obtained at 1305 MeV. Both dominant decay modes of the $\eta$ into two photons and $3\pi^0$ were used to extract the beam asymmetry from the azimuthal modulation of the cross section. The measurements cover the angular range $\Theta_\text{cm}\simeq 50$ -- 150 degrees. Large asymmetries up to 80 % are observed, in agreement with a previous measurement. The eta-MAID model and the Bonn--Gatchina partial wave analysis describe the measurements, but the required partial waves differ significantly.

About 10 μs after the Big Bang, the universe was filled—in addition to photons and leptons—with strong-interaction matter consisting of quarks and gluons, which transitioned to hadrons at temperatures close to kT = 150 MeV and densities several times higher than those found in nuclei. This quantum chromodynamics (QCD) matter can be created in the laboratory as a transient state by colliding heavy ions at relativistic energies. The different phases in which QCD matter may exist depend for example on temperature, pressure or baryochemical potential, and can be probed by studying the emission of electromagnetic radiation. Electron–positron pairs emerge from the decay of virtual photons, which immediately decouple from the strong interaction, and thus provide information about the properties of QCD matter at various stages. Here, we report the observation of virtual photon emission from baryon-rich QCD matter. The spectral distribution of the electron–positron pairs is nearly exponential, providing evidence for a source of temperature in excess of 70 MeV with constituents whose properties have been modified, thus reflecting peculiarities of strong-interaction QCD matter. Its bulk properties are similar to the dense matter formed in the final state of a neutron star merger, as apparent from recent multimessenger observation.
