Photoproduction cross sections for $\pi^+$ and $K^+$ mesons at 3.4 to 4.0 {GeV} and their comparison with {SU(3)}

The differential cross sections for the photoproduction reactions γ+p→π++n, γ+p→K++Λ0, and γ+p→K++Σ0 have ben measured for incident laboratory photon energies between 3.4 and 4.0 GeV and for meson center-of-mass angles from about 25° to 45°. The reactions were studied by observing only the charged mesons. The momenta, velocities, and angles of the mesons were measured with a magnetic spectrometer, and the equivalent of nearly monochromatic gamma rays was obtained by performing bremsstrahlung subtractions. The cross sections agree with the inequality predicted from unbroken SU(3). The measured behavior of dσdt as a function of t shows similarities to that observed in studies of mesonnucleon scattering.

Total cross-sections for pi- p ---> lambda k0 from threshold to 1.13 gev/c

Jones, J.J. ; Bowen, T. ; Dawes, W.R. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 26 (1971) 860-863, 1971.
Inspire Record 69027 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21505

Total cross sections for π−p→ΛK0 have been measured using optical spark chambers from threshold to 1.13−GeVc beam momentum in 19−MeVc intervals, but with a 1−MeVc resolution in the regions of the ΛK and ΣK thresholds. The behavior near ΛK threshold indicates a significant s-wave contribution, but this experiment is unable to resolve any cusplike behavior in the region of the ΣK thresholds. The cross section shows a broad peak in the vicinity of 1.05−GeVc beam momentum.

The measurements of the transmission regeneration amplitude on hydrogen in the momentum region of 14–42 GeV/ c indicate that in accordance with the Pomeranchuk theorem its magnitude |ƒ° − ƒ °|/k decreases as energy increases and its phase is approximately constant and equal to arg (ƒ° − ƒ °) = (−118 ± 13)° .

Measurements of k+ p elastic scattering differential cross sections in the incident momentum range 1368 to 2259 mev/c

Measurements of complete angular distributions of elastic K + p scattering at closely spaced incident momenta from 1368 to 2259 MeV/ c are presented and discussed. A PDP-8 computer controlled system of scintillation counters and core-readout wire spark chambers was used for the detection of elastic events. Diffractive behaviour is already present at the lowest measured momentum and becomes more prominent as the incident momentum increases. An expansion of the angular distributions in terms of Legendre polynomials shows no marked structure of the expansion coefficients as functions of the incident momentum. Our measurements can be adequately described by a number of existing phase shift solutions within 5% of their published values. Also Regge pole extrapolations represent our data satisfactorily.

Delta Production in 3.1-GeV/c-3.6-GeV/c K- p Interactions

We present evidence for δ production in the reactions K − p→ Σ (1385) + δ − ; δ − → η 0 π − , and K − p → Λδ + π − ; δ + → η 0 π + , in a bubble chamber experiment with beam momentum in the range 3.1 to 3.6 GeV/ c . The η 0 from the δ decay is seen both as a missing mass effect, and in its charged decay modes. The δ − has a mass of 989 ± 4 MeV, and width a of 16 −16 +25 MeV (after allowing for experimental resolution). The cross section for Σ(1385) − δ − production is 7±3 μ b; the reaction is produced at small momentum transfers. The mass and width of the δ + are consistent with those of the δ − , and the cross section for the Λ 0 π − δ + final state is about 5 μb. Neither δ appears to be produced as a result of D 0 decay.

The energy dependence of the modulus and phase of the K L 0 -K S 0 regeneration amplitude on hydrogen in the range of 14–50 GeV has been investigated at the Serpukhov 70 GeV accelerator. It has been established that the modulus of the modified regeneration amplitude decreases with increasing momentum as 2|ƒ 21 0 (p)|/k = (0.84 ± 0.42) · p −0.50±0.15 mb . The amplitude phase is energy-independent and its mean value is ϕ 21 0 = −132° ± 5°. The results obtained are compared with other experiments and with predictions of different theoretical models.

$K^0$ Production in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilations at 30-{GeV} Center-of-mass Energy

Phys.Lett.B 94 (1980) 91-95, 1980.
Inspire Record 153341 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27173

Inclusive K 0 -production has been measured in e + e - annihilation at a center of mass energy of about W = 30 GeV. The ratio of K 0 + K 0 production to μ + μ - production is R K 0 = 5.6 ± 1.1 (statist. error) ± 0.8 (system.error) This value is about a factor of three higher than R K 0 at W = 7 GeV. The cross sections ( s / β ) d σ /d x is consistent with a scaling behaviour.

Charged Pion, Kaon, Proton and anti-Proton Production in High-Energy e+ e- Annihilation

The TASSO collaboration Brandelik, R. ; Braunschweig, W. ; Gather, K. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 94 (1980) 444-449, 1980.
Inspire Record 153656 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27192

Production of pions, kaons, protons and antiprotons has been studied in e + e − annihilations at 12 and 30 GeV centre of mass energy using time of flight techniques. The fractional yield of charged kaons and baryons appears to rise with outgoing particle momentum. At our highest energy at least 40% of e + e − annihilations into hadrons are estimated to contain baryons.
