Neutron angular distributions from the charge-exchange (π0n) and inelastic modes (π0π0n,π+π−n) of the π−−p interaction have been investigated at 313 and 371 MeV incident-pion kinetic energy. The data were obtained with an electronic counter system. Elastic and inelastic neutrons were separated in the all-neutral final states by time of flight. At both energies the charge-exchange differential cross section at the forward neutron angles differs from that determined by Caris et al. from measurements of the π0-decay gamma distributions, but generally agrees with the phase-shift-analysis calculations of Roper. The distribution of inelastic neutrons from both modes shows a strong preference for low center-of-mass neutron energies. The distribution of these neutrons does not correspond to that expected from the I=0, π−π interaction (ABC effect) suggested to account for the anomaly in p−d collisions observed by Abashian et al. Finally, all available charge-exchange differential-cross-section data from this and other experiments were combined by at least-squares fit to a Legendre expansion of the form dσdΩ*(cosθπ0*)=Σl=0NalPl(cosθπ0*) with the following results (in mb/sr):

Differential cross-sections and analyzing powers for anti-p p ---> pi- pi+ and K- K+ from 360-MeV/c to 1550-MeV/c

Inspire Record 339576 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.6880

Analysing powers and differential cross sections for p p → π − π + and p p → K − K + have been measured over the full angular range using a polarised target at LEAR at 20 beam momenta from 360 to 1550 MeV/ c . Discrepancies in the normalisation of earlier d σ/ d Ω data at low momenta are clarified. Above 1000 MeV/ c , A 0N results confirm values close to +1 over most of the angular range for both reactions, in excellent agreement with earlier data of lower statistics. Below 1000 MeV/ c , where the analysing power is measured for the first time, large variations of A 0N with energy and angle are present.

Measurements of the differential cross-section of the reaction p p ---> d pi+ from 3.0 to 5.0 gev/c

Phys.Rev.D 9 (1974) 580-596, 1974.
Inspire Record 93111 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21941

A measurement of the complete differential cross section for the reaction pp→dπ+ at 3.00, 3.20, 3.43, 3.65, 3.83, 4.00, 4.20, and 5.05 GeVc incident proton momentum has been made in an attempt to establish the role of the Δ (1950) in this region. The data show that the previously observed enhancement in the forward cross section between 3 and 4 GeVc due to this isobar is an effect which damps out quickly as the production angle departs from zero degrees, in contrast with the well-known enhancement at 1.35 GeVc, which is evident at all angles. In particular, the one-pion-exchange model is in poor agreement with the extended set of data. A detailed description is given of a novel proportional-wire-chamber system which facilitated the selection of this rather rare reaction from a very high competing background.

Measurements of d p backward elastic scattering at 3.43, 4.50, 5.75, and 6.60 gev/c incident deuteron momentum

Inspire Record 93110 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21938

Differential cross sections for dp elastic scattering from 60° to 175° center of momentum (c.m.) were measured at 3.43, 4.50, 5.75, and 6.60 GeVc incident deuteron momentum. The measurements were made with a two-arm magnetic spectrometer, making use of multiwire proportional chamber detectors. The deuterons were accelerated at the Bevatron of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Data are compared with predictions of the baryon-pickup model and the one-pion-exchange model. The backward dip at 180° c.m. for 4.5 GeVc, predicted by Craigie and Wilkin using the one-pion-exchange model, is not observed, but reasonable fits to the momentum variation and angular distributions are found. When the data are plotted against the variable Δ of the baryon-pickup model, the s dependence is greatly reduced.

Measurement of $d \sigma / d \Omega$ and A(on) in $\bar{p} p$ Elastic Scattering Between 497-{MeV}/$c$ and 1550-{MeV}/$c$

Nucl.Phys.B 323 (1989) 1-36, 1989.
Inspire Record 267175 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.48676

Measurements have been made of the differential cross section and asymmetry A on for p p elastic scattering at 15 incident momenta between 497 MeV/ c and 1550 MeV/ c . The angular range where both particles have enough energy to traverse target and setup has been covered. The results are compared with predictions of various N N potential models. None of these models fully explains the present results, although the general trend of the data is predicted correctly.

Measurement of the analyzing power and the differential cross-section of the anti-p p charge exchange reaction at LEAR

As part of a programme to study the spin structure of the p p→ n n channel, we have measured the analysing power A 0 n and the differential cross section at an incident antiproton beam momentum of 704 MeV/ c . The analysing power exhibits a remarkable angular dependence, which is poorly reproduced by the existing potential models.

A High statistics measurement of the anti-p p ---> anti-n n charge exchange reaction at 875-MeV/c

Nucl.Phys.B 434 (1995) 479-502, 1995.

A new measurement of the differential cross section and of the analysing power A 0 n of the charge-exchange reaction p − p → n − n at 875 MeV/ c is presented. The A 0 n data cover the entire angular range and constitute a considerable improvement over previously published data, both in the forward and in the backward hemisphere. The cross-section data cover only the backward region, but are unique at this energy. A careful study of the long-term drifts of the apparatus has allowed to fully exploit the good statistics of the data.

Small Angle p p Elastic Scattering at Energies Between 285-MeV and 572-MeV

Phys.Rev.D 13 (1976) 2478-2498, 1976.
Inspire Record 114031 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24779

Differential cross sections for elastic p−p scattering have been measured at 285, 348, 398, 414, 455, 497, 530, and 572 MeV kinetic energy. The experiment was performed at the CERN synchrocyclotron, using multiwire proportional chambers placed directly in a proton beam. Scattering was observed for 1.5°≲θ≲10° in the laboratory system. The ratio αp of the real and imaginary parts of the non-spin-flip nuclear forward amplitude was derived from the interference between the Coulomb and nuclear amplitudes. The values obtained are model-dependent, but in this energy range αp is positive and decreases with energy. Qualitatively good agreement with dispersion-relation predictions is observed.

Dijet Angular Distributions from anti-p p Collisions at s**(1/2) = 1.8-TeV

We have measured dijet angular distributions at √s =1.8 TeV with the Collider Detector at Fermilab and the Tevatron p¯p Collider and find agreement with leading-order QCD. By comparing the distribution for the highest dijet invariant masses with the prediction of a model of quark compositeness, we set a lower limit on the associated scale parameter Λc at 330 GeV (95% C.L.).

The reaction e+ e- ---> gamma gamma (gamma) at Z0 energies

Phys.Lett.B 268 (1991) 296-304, 1991.
Inspire Record 317825 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29352

The total and differential cross-sections for the reaction e + e − → γγ ( γ ) are measured at centre of mass energies around 91 GeV using an integrated luminosity of 4.7 pb −1 . The aggreement with QED prediction is good. Consequently there is no evidence for non-standard channels which would have the same experimental signature. The lower limits on the QED cuttoff parameters are Λ + > 113 GeV and Λ − > 95 GeV. An upper limit on the effective coupling between a possible excited electron and the gamma is derived. At 95% confidence level the branching ratios for Z 0 decay into π 0 γ, ηψ and γγγ are below 1.5 × 10 −4 , 2.8 × 10 −4 and 1.4 × 10 −4 respectively.
