Exclusive electroproduction of pi0 mesons on protons in the backward hemisphere has been studied at Q**2 = 1.0 GeV**2 by detecting protons in the forward direction in coincidence with scattered electrons from the 4 GeV electron beam in Jefferson Lab's Hall A. The data span the range of the total (gamma* p) center-of-mass energy W from the pion production threshold to W = 2.0 GeV. The differential cross sections sigma_T+epsilon*sigma_L, sigma_TL, and sigma_TT were separated from the azimuthal distribution and are presented together with the MAID and SAID parametrizations.

We have measured the differential cross section for the gamma n --> pi- p and gamma p --> pi+ n reactions at center of mass angle of 90 degree in the photon energy range from 1.1 to 5.5 GeV at Jefferson Lab (JLab). The data at photon energies greater than 3.3 GeV exhibit a global scaling behavior for both pi- and pi+ photoproduction, consistent with the constituent counting rule and the existing pi+ photoproduction data. Possible oscillations around the scaling value are suggested by these new data The data show enhancement in the scaled cross section at a center-of-mass energy near 2.2 GeV. The cross section ratio of exclusive pi- to pi+ photoproduction at high energy is consistent with the prediction based on one-hard-gluon-exchange diagrams.
Differential cross section at THETA(CM) = 90 degrees.
We have measured the transverse asymmetry from inclusive scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from polarized 3He nuclei at quasi-elastic kinematics in Hall A at Jefferson Lab with high statistical and systematic precision. The neutron magnetic form factor was extracted based on Faddeev calculations with an experimental uncertainty of less than 2 %.

The\(e^ +e^ -\to K_s^0 K^ \pm\pi ^ \mp\) andK+K−π0 cross sections have been measured in the energy interval\(1350 \leqq \sqrt s\leqq 2400\) with the DM2 detector at DCI. The\(K_s^0 K^ \pm\pi ^ \mp\) cross section shows the contribution of an isoscalar vector meson at ≈1650 MeV/c2 in agreement with a previous experiment. The low statisticsK+K−π0 measurement is consistent with the above result.

Thee+e−→K+K− cross section has been measured from about 750 events in the energy interval\(1350 \leqq \sqrt s\leqq 2400 MeV\) with the DM2 detector at DCI. TheK± form factor |FF±| cannot be explained by the ρ, ω, ϕ and ρ′(1600). An additional resonant amplitude at 1650 MeV has to be added as suggested by a previous experiment.

The differential cross sections of the reaction p―p→n―n were measured at 390, 490, 590, 690, and 780 MeV/c. The existence of the theoretically predicted forward dip is confirmed. The results are compared with the predictions of various N―N potential models.

The electroproduction of π0-mesons on protons has been measured with electrons of 1.7 and 2.1 GeV energy in the region of the nucleon resonances at\(W = \sqrt {(q + p)^2 }= 1,400 - 2,000MeV\) at rather low values of |q2|=|(e−e′)2|=0.01–0.1 GeV2 but at high values of the nucleon recoil |t|=|(p−p′)2|≈0.6–2.2 GeV2 corresponding to\(\Theta _\pi ^{cm}\approx 145^ \circ- 180^ \circ\). Up toW≈1,650 MeV the cross section for π0-production with virtual photons of |q2|≈0.03 GeV2 is only slightly smaller than that with real photons. ForW≳1,700 MeV the cross section at |q2|≈0.03 GeV2 is on average a factor of 2 smaller than that atq2=0 but only slightly higher than that at |q2|≈0.3–1 GeV2.

The reactions e + e − → ρη , ρπ , φπ and φη have been studied with the magnetic detector DM1 at DCI in the total energy ranges between 1.4 and 2.18 GeV. The ρη signal is clearly seen. Upper limits for ρπ and φη channels as well as for the OZI forbidden φπ channel.

First measurements of the e + e − → K S 0 K ± π ∓ reaction in the 1.4–2.18 GeV energy range have been performed with the magnetic detector DM1 at the Orsay storage rings DCI. The cross section is rather large. The production is mainly K ∗0 K 0 which reveals an interference between isovector and isoscalar amplitudes. These results show again the existence of an isoscalar vector at 1.65 GeV shown to be a φ ′ meson.
