A tagged photon beam (2.8<Eγ<4.8 GeV) and multiparticle spectrometer have been used to study the photoproduction in hydrogen ofK+Λ(1520). Precise values for the mass and width of the Λ(1520) are given. The total cross-section is found to fall with increasing photon energy like (6.5±0.7)Eγ−(2.1±0.2) μb. The differential cross sectiondσ/dt indicates peripheral forward production and exhibits no evidence for shrinkage when compared with higher energy data. The Λ(1520) spin density matrix shows thatK exchange alone cannot account for the production mechanism. The reaction is found to resemble the process γp→K+ Λ(1115) in all measurable respects.

Baryon resonance production in quasi-two-body reactions has been studied for the channels K + p→K°p π + , K + n π + and K + p π ° at beam momenta of 2.53, 2.76 and 3.20 GeV/ c . The production cross sections, four-momentum transfer distributions and density matrix elements are given for the Δ(1236), N ∗ (1400), N ∗ (1500) and N ∗ (1680) states. The reaction K + p→K° Δ ++ (1236) is compared to the line reversed reaction K − n → K °Δ − and the charge-exchange SU(3) sum rule for pseudo-scalar meson plus Δ(1236) is tested.

Photoproduction is studied at 2.8 and 4.7 GeV using a linearly polarized monoenergetic photon beam in a hydrogen bubble chamber. We discuss the experimental procedure, the determination of channel cross sections, and the analysis of the channel γp→pπ+π−. A model-independent analysis of the ρ0-decay angular distribution allows us to measure nine independent density-matrix elements. From these we find that the reaction γp→pρ0 proceeds almost completely through natural parity exchange for squared momentum transfers |t|<1 GeV2 and that the ρ production mechanism is consistent with s-channel c.m. helicity conservation for |t|<0.4 GeV2. A cross section for the production of π+π− pairs in the s-channel c.m. helicity-conserving p-wave state is determined. The ρ mass shape is studied as a function of momentum transfer and is found to be inconsistent with a t-independent Ross-Stodolsky factor. Using a t-dependent parametrization of the ρ0 mass shape we derive a phenomenological ρ0 cross section. We compare our phenomenological ρ0 cross section with other experiments and find good agreement for 0.05<|t|<1 GeV2. We discuss the discrepancies in the various determinations of the forward differential cross section. We study models for ρ0 photoproduction and find that the Söding model best describes the data. Using the Söding model we determine a ρ0 cross section. We determine cross sections and nine density-matrix elements for γp→Δ++π−. The parity asymmetry for Δ++ production is incompatible with simple one-pion exchange. We compare Δ++ production with models.

The cross sections for the two antiproton-proton annihilation-in-flight modes, ˉp + p → π+ + π- ˉp + p → k+ + k- were measured for fifteen laboratory antiproton beam momenta ranging from 0.72 to 2.62 GeV/c. No magnets were used to determine the charges in the final state. As a result, the angular distributions were obtained in the form [dσ/dΩ (ΘC.M.) + dσ/dΩ (π – ΘC.M.)] for 45 ≲ ΘC.M. ≲ 135°. A hodoscope-counter system was used to discriminate against events with final states having more than two particles and antiproton-proton elastic scattering events. One spark chamber was used to record the track of each of the two charged final particles. A total of about 40,000 pictures were taken. The events were analyzed by measuring the laboratory angle of the track in each chamber. The value of the square of the mass of the final particles was calculated for each event assuming the reaction ˉp + p → a pair of particles with equal masses. About 20,000 events were found to be either annihilation into π ±-pair or k ±-pair events. The two different charged meson pair modes were also distinctly separated. The average differential cross section of ˉp + p → π+ + π- varied from ~ 25 µb/sr at antiproton beam momentum 0.72 GeV/c (total energy in center-of-mass system, √s = 2.0 GeV) to ~ 2 µb/sr at beam momentum 2.62 GeV/c (√s = 2.64 GeV). The most striking feature in the angular distribution was a peak at ΘC.M. = 90° (cos ΘC.M. = 0) which increased with √s and reached a maximum at √s ~ 2.1 GeV (beam momentum ~ 1.1 GeV/c). Then it diminished and seemed to disappear completely at √s ~ 2.5 GeV (beam momentum ~ 2.13 GeV/c). A valley in the angular distribution occurred at cos ΘC.M. ≈ 0.4. The differential cross section then increased as cos ΘC.M. approached 1. The average differential cross section for ˉp + p → k+ + k- was about one third of that of the π±-pair mode throughout the energy range of this experiment. At the lower energies, the angular distribution, unlike that of the π±-pair mode, was quite isotropic. However, a peak at ΘC.M. = 90° seemed to develop at √s ~ 2.37 GeV (antiproton beam momentum ~ 1.82 GeV/c). No observable change was seen at that energy in the π±-pair cross section. The possible connection of these features with the observed meson resonances at 2.2 GeV and 2.38 GeV, and its implications, were discussed.

We study the processes $e^+ e^-\to K_S^0 K_L^0 \gamma$, $K_S^0 K_L^0 \pi^+\pi^-\gamma$, $K_S^0 K_S^0 \pi^+\pi^-\gamma$, and $K_S^0 K_S^0 K^+K^-\gamma$, where the photon is radiated from the initial state, providing cross section measurements for the hadronic states over a continuum of center-of-mass energies. The results are based on 469 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the BaBar detector at SLAC. We observe the $\phi(1020)$ resonance in the $K_S^0 K_L^0$ final state and measure the product of its electronic width and branching fraction with about 3% uncertainty. We study the processes e+e- --> K+ K- pi+pi-gamma, K+ K- pi0pi0gamma, and K+ K- K+ K-gamma, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 84000, 8000, and 4200 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 454 fb-1 of BaBar data. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the \epem center-of-mass energy, so that the K+ K- pi+pi- data can be compared with direct measurements of the e+e- --> K+ K- pi+pi- reaction. No direct measurements exist for the e+e- --> K+ K-pi0pi0 or e+e- --> K+ K-K+ K- reactions, and we present an update of our previous result with doubled statistics. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions from a number of intermediate states, and extract their cross sections. In particular, we perform a more detailed study of the e+e- --> phi(1020)pipigamma reaction, and confirm the presence of the Y(2175) resonance in the phi(1020) f0(980) and K+K-f0(980) modes. In the charmonium region, we observe the J/psi in all three final states and in several intermediate states, as well as the psi(2S) in some modes, and measure the corresponding product of branching fraction and electron width.

We present measurements of the differential cross section and Lambda recoil polarization for the gamma p to K+ Lambda reaction made using the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. These measurements cover the center-of-mass energy range from 1.62 to 2.84 GeV and a wide range of center-of-mass K+ production angles. Independent analyses were performed using the K+ p pi- and K+ p (missing pi -) final-state topologies/ results from these analyses were found to exhibit good agreement. These differential cross section measurements show excellent agreement with previous CLAS and LEPS results and offer increased precision and a 300 MeV increase in energy coverage. The recoil polarization data agree well with previous results and offer a large increase in precision and a 500 MeV extension in energy range. The increased center-of-mass energy range that these data represent will allow for independent study of non-resonant K+ Lambda photoproduction mechanisms at all production angles.

Results on charged pion and kaon production in central Pb+Pb collisions at 20A and 30A GeV are presented and compared to data at lower and higher energies. A rapid change of the energy dependence is observed around 30A GeV for the yields of pions and kaons as well as for the shape of the transverse mass spectra. The change is compatible with the prediction that the threshold for production of a state of deconfined matter at the early stage of the collisions is located at low SPS energies.

This paper reports measurements of processes: e+e- -> gamma KsK+pi-, e+e- -> gamma K+K-pi0, e+e- -> gamma phi eta, and e+e- -> gamma phi pi0. The initial state radiated photon allows to cover the hadronic final state in the energy range from thresholds up to ~4.6 GeV. The overall size of the data sample analyzed is 232 fb-1, collected by the BaBar detector running at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring. From the Dalitz plot analysis of the KsK+pi- final state, moduli and relative phase of the isoscalar and the isovector components of the e+e- -> K K*(892) cross section are determined. Parameters of phi and rho recurrences are also measured, using a global fitting procedure which exploits the interconnection among amplitudes, moduli and phases of the e+e- -> KsK+pi-, K+K-pi0, phi eta final states. The cross section for the OZI-forbidden process e+e- -> phi pi0, and the J/psi branching fractions to KK*(892) and K+K-eta are also measured.

We study the processes $e^+ e^-\to K^+ K^- \pi^+\pi^-\gamma$, $K^+K^-\pi^0\pi^0\gamma$ and $K^+ K^- K^+ K^-\gamma$, where the photon is radiated from the initial state. About 34600, 4400 and 2300 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 232 \invfb of \babar data. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions from a number of intermediate states, and we extract their cross sections where possible. In particular, we isolate the contribution from $e^+ e^-\to\phi(1020) f_{0}(980)$ and study its structure near threshold. $K^0_SK^0_S$ production in two-photon collisions has been studied using a 397.6 fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+e^-$ collider. For the first time the cross sections are measured in the two-photon center-of-mass energy range between 2.4 GeV and 4.0 GeV and angular range $|\cos\theta^*|<0.6$. Combining the results with measurements of $\gamma\gamma\to K^+K^-$ from Belle, we observe that the cross section ratio $\sigma(K^0_SK^0_S)/\sigma(K^+K^-)$ decreases from ~0.13 to ~0.01 with increasing energy. Signals for the $\chi_{c0}$ and $\chi_{c2}$ charmonium states are also observed.

Photoproduction of the cascade resonances has been investigated in the reactions $\gamma p \to K^+ K^+ (X)$ and $\gamma p \to K^+ K^+ \pi^- (X)$. The mass split of the $\Xi$ doublet is measured to be $5.4\pm 1.8$ MeV/c$^2$, consistent with existing measurements. The differential (total) cross sections for the $\Xi^{-}$ have been determined for photon beam energies from 2.75 to 3.85 (4.75) GeV, and are consistent with a possible production mechanism of $Y^*\to K^+\Xi^-$ through a $t$-channel process. The reaction $\gamma p \to K^+ K^+ \pi^-[\Xi^0]$ has also been investigated in search of excited cascade resonances. No significant signal of excited cascade states other than the $\Xi^-(1530)$ is observed. The cross section results of the $\Xi^-(1530)$ have also been obtained for photon beam energies from 3.35 to 4.75 GeV.

We study the processes $e^+ e^-\to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0\gamma$, $2(\pi^+\pi^-)\eta\gamma$, $K^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\gamma$ and $K^+ K^-\pi^+\pi^-\eta\gamma$ with the hard photon radiated from the initial state. About 20000, 4300, 5500 and 375 fully reconstructed events, respectively, are selected from 232 fb$^{-1}$ of BaBar data. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective $e^+ e^-$ center-of-mass energy, so that the obtained cross sections from the threshold to about 5 GeV can be compared with corresponding direct \epem measurements, currently available only for the $\eta\pi^+\pi^-$ and $\omega\pi^+\pi^-$ submodes of the $e^+ e^-\to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)\pi^0$ channel. Studying the structure of these events, we find contributions from a number of intermediate states, and we extract their cross sections where possible. In particular, we isolate the contribution from $e^+ e^-\to\omega(782)\pi^+\pi^-$ and study the $\omega(1420)$ and $\omega(1650)$ resonances. In the charmonium region, we observe the $J/\psi$ in all these final states and several intermediate states, as well as the $\psi(2S)$ in some modes, and we measure the corresponding branching fractions.

The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective \epem center-of-mass energy, so that these data can be compared with the corresponding direct $e^+e^-$ measurements. The uncertainty in the cross section measurement is typically 5%. We also measure the cross sections for the final states $K^+ K^- \pi^+\pi^-$ and $K^+ K^- K^+ K^-$. We observe the $J/\psi$ in all three final states and measure the corresponding branching fractions. We search for X(3872) in $J/\psi (\to\mu^+\mu^-) \pi^+\pi^-$ and obtain an upper limit on the product of the $e^+e^-$ width of the X(3872) and the branching fraction for $X(3872) \to J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$.

Threshold measurements of the associated strangeness production reactions pp --> p K(+) Lambda and pp --> p K(+) Sigma(0) are presented. Although slight differences in the shapes of the excitation functions are observed, the most remarkable feature of the data is that at the same excess energy the total cross section for the Sigma(0) production appears to be about a factor of 28 smaller than the one for the Lambda particle. It is concluded that strong Sigma(0)-p final state interactions, and in particular the Sigma-N --> Lambda-p conversion reaction, are the likely cause of the depletion for the yield in the Sigma signal. This hypothesis is in line with other experimental evidence in the literature.
The given errors are statistical only. The cross section presented as a function of the nominal excess energy.
The 1H(e,e′K+)Λ reaction was studied as a function of the squared four-momentum transfer, Q2, and the virtual photon polarization, ɛ. For each of four Q2 settings, 0.52, 0.75, 1.00, and 2.00 (GeV/c)2, the longitudinal and transverse virtual photon cross sections were extracted in measurements at three virtual photon polarizations. The Q2 dependence of the σL/σT ratio differs significantly from current theoretical predictions. This, combined with the precision of the measurement, implies a need for revision of existing calculations.
The systematic and statistical errors are added in quadrature. OMEGA is the solid angle of K+ in CMS.
Results on the elastic K − π − scattering have been obtained from a study of the K − π − system in 15 000 events of the type K − p→K − π − p π + at a K − beam momentum of 4.25 GeV/ c . The on-mass-shell values of the spherical harmonic moments of the K − π − scattering angular distribution and the K − π − elastic cross section have been obtained by extrapolation to the pion pole. From these values we determined the s- and p-wave phase shifts δ 0 3 and δ 1 3 as a function of the effective mass of the K − π − system between threshold and 1.25 GeV/ c 2 . The value of | δ 0 3 | is smaller than 17° for all mass values and the existence of a p-wave cannot be neglected. At m K − π − = 1.18 GeV/ c 2 there are two solutions for the phase shifts. On the average, the cross section of the K − π − elastic scattering over the region of the effective mass considered amounts to approximately 2.5 mb.
The errors combine statistical and systematical effects.

We have searched for resonance production in the reaction γγ→Ks0Kπ. No signal was found for theηc and an upper limit for the radiative with\(\Gamma _{\gamma \gamma }^{\eta _c } \) keV (95% c.l.) is obtained. In the tagged data sample resonance formation of a spin 1 state at 1420 MeV is observed, which is absent in the untagged data. Results are presented on the exclusive production of four-prong final states in photon-photon collisions from the TPC/Two-Gamma detector at the SLAC e+e− storage ring PEP. Measurement of dE/dx and momentum in the time-projection chamber (TPC) provides identification of the final states 2π+2π−, K+K−π+π−, and 2K+2K−. For two quasireal incident photons, both the 2π+2π− and K+K−π+π− cross sections show a steep rise from threshold to a peak value, followed by a decrease at higher mass. Cross sections for the production of the final states ρ0ρ0, ρ0π+π−, and φπ+π− are presented, together with upper limits for φρ0, φφ, and K*0K¯ *0. The ρ0ρ0 contribution dominates the four-pion cross section at low masses, but falls to nearly zero above 2 GeV. Such behavior is inconsistent with expectations from vector dominance but can be accommodated by four-quark resonance models or by t-channel factorization. Angular distributions for the part of the data dominated by ρ0ρ0 final states are consistent with the production of JP=2+ or 0+ resonances but also with isotropic (nonresonant) production. When one of the virtual photons has mass (mγ2=-Q2≠0), the four-pion cross section is still dominated by ρ0ρ0 at low final-state masses Wγγ and by 2π+2π− at higher mass. Further, the dependence of the cross section on Q2 becomes increasingly flat as Wγγ increases.

An analysis of the production ofKS0KS0 andK±Ks0π∓ by two quasi-real photons is presented. The cross section forγγ→K0\(\overline {K^0 } \), which is given for the γγ invariant mass range fromK\(\bar K\) threshold to 2.5 GeV, is dominated by thef′(1525) resonance and an enhancement near theK\(\bar K\) threshold. Upper limits on the product of the two-photon width times the branching ratio intoK\(\bar K\) pairs are given forΘ(1700),h(2030), and ξ(2220). For exclusive two-photon production ofK±Ks0π∓ no significant signal was observed. Upper limits are given on the cross section ofγγ→K+\(\overline {K^0 } \)π− orK−K0π+ between 1.4 and 3.2 GeV and on the product of the γγ width times the branching ratio into theK\(\bar K\)π final states for theηc(2980) and the ι(1440), yieldingΓ(γγ)→i(1440))·BR(i(1440)→K\(\bar K\)π<2.2 keV at 95% C.L.

We report measurements of the two-photon processes e+e−→e+e−π+π− and e+e−→e+e−K+K−, at an e+e− center-of-mass energy of 29 GeV. In the π+π− data a high-statistics analysis of the f(1270) results in a γγ width Γ(γγ→f)=3.2±0.4 keV. The π+π− continuum below the f mass is well described by a QED Born approximation, whereas above the f mass it is consistent with a QCD-model calculation if a large contribution from the f is assumed. For the K+K− data we find agreement of the high-mass continuum with the QCD prediction; limits on f′(1520) and θ(1720) formation are presented.

A systematic study of p p and p d reactions producing strange particles between 1.09 and 3.45 GeV/ c has been completed. Reaction and resonance cross-section data are presented at 11 p p and 13 p d momentum settings. Evidence for a broad shoulder in the K K 3π final state near 1.8 GeV/ c is presented and contrasted to previously published work on a portion of the final data sample. No evidence for a p n → K 0 K − ω effect near 1.3 GeV/ c is found, ruling out an association of K K ω effects with the nearby isospin one enhancement in the total cross section. Finally, we find no evidence for a p p → K K ω enhancement near 1.8 GeV/ c .

We have measured the production cross section for K s 0 in e + e − annihilation from 3.6 to 5.0 GeV center of mass energy. A substantial increase of the K s 0 yield is observed around 4 GeV in qualitative agreement with the charm hypothesis.
THE DATA GIVEN HERE AT 9.3 GEV AND ABOVE ARE REPORTED IN C. BERGER ET AL., PL 104B, 79 (1981). THE 12.0 AND 30 GEV DATA WERE TAKEN AT PETRA.

Total and differential cross sections are presented for the reaction KL 0p→KS 0p from 1.3 to 8.0 GeVc as measured in an exposure of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center 40-in. hydrogen bubble chamber to a neutral beam. The forward points of dσ(KL 0p→KS 0p)dt together with K+n and K−n total cross sections are used to determine the intercept of the effective Regge trajectory, α(0)=0.47±0.09, and the regeneration phase ϕf=−43∘±8∘.

The forward cross sections for the reactions π−p→K+Σ− and K−p→π+Σ− have been determined for incident particle momenta in the range of 2.75 to 3.50 GeV/c, and an upper limit was established at 5.00 GeV/c. These measurements show that the double-charge-exchange process π−p→K+Σ− is suppressed by a factor of 1500 at 3 GeV/c relative to the single-exchange reaction π+p→K+Σ+.

This paper reports the results of an experiment measuring the parameters of various electroproduction reactions for a range in the electroproduction variables 0.7<Q2<4 GeV2 and 2<W2<16 GeV2. This report is limited to nondiffractive exclusive channels, with detailed results regarding the πΔ final states, statistically limited results for KΛ final states, and upper limits on the production of a number of event topologies containing a single unseen neutral particle.

We present results for the reactions K 0 p →Λπ + and K 0 p →∑ 0 π + , for |u'| <0. 05 ( GeV /c) 2 and kaon momenta between 1 and 8 GeV/ c . The experiment was performed ina neutral beam at the PS with a two arm spark chamber spectrometer. The cross sections show strong dependence on beam energy and momentum transfer u ′. Λ polarization is compatible with zero. We compare energy dependence of the backward cross sections with the baryon exchange model from π N scattering.

The construction of a K L 0 beam for the CERN 2 m hydrogen bubble chamber and the derivation of the beam momentum spectrum are described. Cross sections are presented for the reaction K L 0 +p → K S 0 + π + + π − +p for K L 0 momenta up to 17 GeV/ c . The reacti is seen to be dominated, particularly at the highest momenta, where there are no previous data, by the production of the Q 0 - Q 0 system. The shapes of the t -distributions for Q 0 and Q 0 prodcution are found to be different in a sense opposite to that expected from the pion-exchange Deck model. A model in which the observed effect is ascribed to the addition of a K ∗ exchange Deck graph is found to be incompatible with the data. The data are, however, consistent with a model in which the Q 0 - Q 0 system is largely resonant and the sense of the cross-over is determined by the s -channel quantum numbers.

The study of 620 hadron pairs produced in the s -range (1.44−9.0) GeV 2 , has yielded 110 collinear hadronic events. Their identification in terms of π and K mesons allows the determination of the time-like electromagnetic from factors of these pseudoscalar mesons in the above time-like range. The total number of (e + e − ) events observed in the same experimental conditions is 18 048.

Final state resonance production and single particle momentum spectra are presented for p p annihilations into K K and π's between 1.09 and 3.45 GeV/ c . Resonance production generally agrees with the Lamb statistical model. Momentum spectra of K's and π's are independent of incident energy, while the mean multiplicity increases in proportion to the c.m. energy, supporting the annihilation model of Jacob and Nussinov.

Differential cross sections for center of mass scattering angles near 90° are presented for the reactions K ̄ ° p → π + Λ° , K ̄ ° p → π + Σ° and K L °p → K S °p in the momentum interval 1.0 to 7.5 GeV / c . The energy dependences of these cross sections are found to be equally well described by the parameterization: ( d σ d Ω ) 90° ∞ s −2 or ( d σ d Ω ) 90° ∞ exp (− bp ⊥ ) .

Cross sections, differential cross sections, and hyperon polarization results are presented for the reactions K¯0p→Λπ+ and K¯0p→Σ0π+ in the momentum interval 1 to 12 GeV/c. Emphasis is placed on the comparison of Λ and Σ channels, and on the momentum dependences of the data. In particular, the Λ polarization data are consistent with being independent of energy above 2 GeV/c; and the slopes of the forward cross sections are found to increase toward the slope values for the line-reversed reactions πp→K(Λ,Σ) as energy increases.

RESONANCE REGION CROSS SECTIONS.
The differential cross sections for KL0p→KS0p scattering are presented in several momentum intervals between 1 and 10 GeVc. The data are strongly peaked in the forward direction, characteristic of a large s-channel helicity-nonflip scattering amplitude in this reaction, and a distinct break in the differential cross section occurs at |t|=0.3 GeV2. The phase of the forward scattering amplitude, φ, is consistent with being independent of momentum. The average value of the phase, φ=−133.9±4.0∘, corresponds to a Regge trajectory α(0)=0.49±0.05 in agreement with the canonical ρ, ω0 Regge intercept, α(0)∼0.5. However, this result disagrees with the Regge trajectory determined from the energy dependence of the forward cross section, α(0)=0.30±0.03, indicating a breaking of the Regge phase-energy relation. Comparisons of KL0p→KS0p and π−p→π0n scattering data reveal substantial differences in the energy dependence of the differential cross sections. Comparisons to KN charge-exchange data then suggest that direct-channel (absorption) effects may explain the differences in πN and KN channels.

K + p elastic scattering is studied at incident K + beam momenta of 2.53, 2.76 and 3.20 GeV/ c . From the analysis of about 10 000 elastic events at each energy, we present data on the forward and backward elastic scattering peaks. No structure is observed in the forward peak for − t ⩽ 2 (GeV/ c ) 2 . In addition, the statistics available from this exposure permit a measurement of the differential cross sections near 90° in the center of mass system. These results exhibit a strong energy dependence and are compared to similar results at other energies.

THE QUOTED ERRORS ARE STATISTICAL.
The reaction p p → K ∗ K does not exhibit any s -channel resonance effect between 1 and 2.5 GeV/ c . On the contrary, the data on p p → K ∗∓ K ± are compatible with an exchange mechanism in the t - and u -channels above 1.5 GeV/ c . Strong similarities are found with p p → K − K + and K ∗− K ∗+ . The polarisation of K ∗± is given. The reaction p p → K ∗0 K 0 vanishes above 1.5 GeV/ c

Differential cross sections have been measured for the interactions p p → π − π + and p p → K − K + over a centre of mass angular range −0.95 ⩽ cos θ ∗ ⩽ 0.95 at 20 incident momenta between 0.79 and 2.43 GeV/ c . A magnetic spectrometer with wire spark chambers was used. Typically 2000 π − π + and 300 K − K + events were obtained at each momentum. Results are compared with those from related experiments.

The Λ-proton elastic scattering cross section has been measured between 1 and 17 GeV/c in a bubble chamber experiment. These are the first measurements of the elastic cross section for pΛ>5 GeV/c. The Λ's were produced by 25-GeV/c proton interactions in a platinum target. The cross section falls from 22 to 4 mb over the region. No significant polarization is observed.

We report measurements of kaon electroproduction from hydrogen and deuterium targets carried out at the Wilson Synchrotron Laboratory at Cornell University. The reactions γVp→K+X0, K+Γ, and K+Σ0 were studied in the kinematic region 2.15≤W≤3.1 GeV and 1.2<Q2<4.0 GeV2 as a function of Q2, W, and ω. The K+Σ0 cross sections fall much more rapidly with increasing Q2 than the K+Λ cross sections so that K+Σ0KΛ→0 as Q2 increases.
